I hate this team. I hate it so much. We could still end up drafting 9th overall if we win against Pheonix and Tampa and Carolina lose in regulation.

The Wild are acting like college students this year.

Start of the school year: "This year will be different. I'm gonna work hard and stay ahead!"

From December on...: "Screw this! I'm tired and want to hang out with my friends. Oh look! Beer!"

Week before finals: "#$@%! I've got to read 10 chapters and write 5 papers. I'm gonna study non-stop, drink as much coffee and Red Bull as possible, and not leave this room till I'm ready for the test!"

And that would clearly be the end of the world.

I see those 3 in Houston as well...

Granlund is a lock, we all pretty much agree.
Larsson IMO is the next closest to a lock, but not quite. He SHOULD make the team.
Bulmer has an outside chance at the roster but could very well end up in Houston.
Phillips, Coyle and Zucker aren't locks for Houston, but close to it IMO.

This really is an excellent comparison.

I'd like to know why cynicism is unfounded yet unbridled optimism isn't.

Evidently any pick outside the top 5 will never amount to anything, and us winning is worse than cancer.

I had forgotten about Bulmer. Yikes. I don't think the three I mentioned going to the minors have much to learn in other hockey venues.

It was super easy to do when you've amassed the second amount of man games lost to injury in the history of the NHL.

The best part about this is, if the Chicago players' stick is, what, 6 inches lower, everybody who is pissed off right now is ecstatic. Didn't Chicago also hit a couple pipes?

If he's going backwards, then Riser was going......what was he doing? Oh yeah, digging a hole. At least Fletch is staying above ground.

If you had seen where this team has come since DR was run out of town... I can't see how you think this is even close to the darkest hour. This is the light just before the dawn right now! The future of this team is getting brighter all the time!
you can't just start rebuilding with a mid tier team. Gotta be terrible for a year or two to actually get some franchise / impact players. Instead, we're mediocre every year, and NEVER break out of it. Yeah we have lots of prospects slated to be 2nd and 3rd liners, but that doesn't get us to a cup run. And, any decent UFA who comes here won't stay

That means it's super easy to be mislead. Fact is, injuries have had little correlation with the Wild winning or losing.

It was going to backwards anyways, thanks to Dougie and Gaborik. Optimism is all there is when you don't have control.

just got back from the game. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Great game. A little boring till the 3rd period when the wild seemed to wake up. But it seemed like a bit of a ropadope strategy with only 5 defensmen after Prosser's EJ.

I think Scandy and Gilbert played phenomenal today. I was hoping for a Scandy/Spurgeon pairing next season, but these 2 seem to have some chemistry.

Foster had quite a few solid shifts in this game and gave more than I expected. I only noticed Cuma out of position a couple of times, a decent debut.

I was really worried Zucker was going to wind up in a fight... I'd rather seem a player get an EJ for jumping the bench to defend Zucker than to see him in a fight.

Can anyone clarify why Kane was allowed to shoot? For some reason I believed that if a player ended OT in the box they were disqualified from shootout eligibility.

Cuz they'd sure be interested in coming here if we were intentionally tanking for 3-4 years like the Oilers.

Wait, what? So we've had a healthy lineup from mid-December on, huh? Not true.

Considering Risebrough left no foundation in which the team could grow from... the team HAD to go backwards in order to get the team movine back forwards!

If you don't have a foundation, you have to dig and make one! The foundation is all but finished. Now the building can truely begin!

If GMCF had those picks, we wouldn't need free agents

You STILL need free agents. It's called experience and leadership. A winning team has a foundation of youth, but it also has a healthy balance of experienced FA's.

Right, just like Edmonton doesn't need free agents. Where is Edmonton right now? Oh yeah, worse than us. Use your brain man. A team needs to set the foundation with the draft. From there they can fill in the holes with free agents.
