Other than Florida, it's hard to see a better matchup for us than NYR...maybe Ottawa but that's close.

Am I wrong or could the Caps still end up 7th?

with Florida Regulation loss they get 3rd
with Ottawa Regulation loss and a Florida pt they get 7th
both of these assuming they win the last game.
Otherwise if either gets a point there in 8th

If both Ward and Knuble can play hard on the boards that is a solid enough big-ish third line.

Well looks like people get their wish of Holtby in.

Glad he got some games beforehand. I am pretty nervous.

Semin heating up at the right time.

Semin

I wonder how many goals the line with semin on would get if he passed the puck.

now that its settled in. I would rather have 8th seed vs NYR and 15th pick then 3 seed vs NJD and the 24th pick.

Home ice doesnt matter. never helped us in game 7

infact. wouldnt this be the 1st series the caps didnt have home ice?

Philly, NYR, PITT, MTL, NYR, TBL

had home in all

Probably a lot fewer. Semin is a really good passer (the pass that he floated out to Flash for a breakaway against the Pens was just crazy), but he's an even better sniper. Fun fact of the day, Semin is 2nd on the team in helpers this year.

I am with you. IMO, NJ is the worst of the potential first round matchups.

Only if they are 1-0 tightly contested games where we get outside 30-9!

you will be after we upset whoever we play in the 1st round.

As far as the game last nite I noted a few things positive about DH:

1- Carlzner back together and Wideman on the 3rd pairing far away from the opposition top line

2- Green on PP#1

3- Shortened the bench to allow for the better players to get more TOI

Steps in the right direction. Now about this silly trap...

That was a fantastic game from Carlson last night. Very physical. No boneheaded mistakes. Defense as a whole was solid. I'd like to see more of that in the playoffs.

Dale can simply turn key back to what the players were used to and what the fans expect, at any moment. Let the world think we do everything opposite of fan logic. It doesn't matter when you win.

I hope we don't take 3rd. The rafters at Verizon are littered with too many meaningless oversized banners already. I want the coveted 8 seed. #HH made the big dance, 1st in the division in his easy grasp. Doing everything pretty much the opposite of what you would do.

Showing your hand riding your stars and being predictable is what got us Dale.

Yep............you made these calls yesterday and good ones they were. I didn't watch the game but glad to see some of these things came to fruition. Carlson I thought had looked good the last couple of games and deserved another chance back with Alzner. If Carlson improves that in itself could be huge for the Caps because it gets Wideman out of there.

I don't know how the PP went with Green but it could not have been worse. And Semin got his TOI.

And from another thread.........I owe it to you to eat some crow this morning because Laich scored a goal. He backed up what he said. I'm so very happy he proved me wrong. LOL

haha all good. I'm just happy we made the playoffs which most likely means we won't have to dismantle the team this offseason. I prefer some stability.

It also brings me hope the DH "gets it" at least in part.

Carlson always plays better with Alzner and vice a versa. It will be a huge boost if he continues his current play. The "demotion" seems to have worked and he is getting his act back together at the perfect time.

So glad to see Brooks come through. The guy works his butt off and plays in any role (and well) the team asks him to. To me he is worth every penny of his contract.

I'd prefer to see Green and Ovie on the point when it comes to the PP. But having Green and Wideman is fine with me and would seem to limit the chance for SH goals against.

Glad to see you guys made the postseason dance over Buffalo. Likely you'll be playing NY, but regardless who your team ends up playing I will be rooting for the Caps. (Be it NY NJ or Bos) I loved the come from behind win against the Rangers a few years back in the first round, hopefully there will be a repeat of that. Although I'm a lifetime Flyers fan Ovi is one of my favorite players in the game and living in a Pittsburgh (technically) market all I heard all year is how Ovi "fell off"/"not elite anymore". Would love for us to beat Pittsburgh and the Caps go to the 2nd round, it would just be too ironic for me.
