True but the same could be said for any non North American player in the draft. As long as we do our homework on the individuals we'll be ok.

Honestly its a giant cluster**** to figure it out until at least a few more teams are eliminated. Its not just reverse order of points or anything either. Division winners getting eliminated changes things as well. Basically the pick is looking like 18-22 range right now.

It will give you a headache to try to figure it out but a quick look shows if Van and FL lose, they both go to the latest pick possible at that point because they are division winners. Same with Boston and NYR. After that it would go by points, which Detroit has 102 but who knows what teams will lose so its hard to rank lol.

Basically wait for at least 3 more series to close out before trying to get a good idea.

we need good goalies so we pick goalies, Vasilevski will 95% go to TB in late 1st round. But you never know what will happen so we pick another one just to be sure and if Dansk/Subban are available in the 2nd why not pick one of them

So your 95% certain Vasilevski is going to us in the 1st? You know SY personally or something? We need a goalie who can play next season and nobody in the draft can do that. We've groomed Tik/Janus for the past 3 years, I know Tik didn't have a good run when up but they are killing the AHL. So we have decent potential in the system, any of the 3 goalies will be we're they are in 3 years but a D could be playing in the NHL. There's busts no matter where you pick but plenty of good goalies can be found in later rounds.

As do I, but Im starting to think he won't fall to us. I see the Islanders picking him over Dumba if Edmonton trades down and gets Murray.

I am advocating drafting Subban with Detroit's 1st. WHo knows how many teams are interested in him. There is little guarantee that he will make it to 40th Overall. You would think that after every year teams are like goalie development is sporadic but every year again people say this is the guy, he is worth it.

Honestly afar writing that last sentence I feel hypocritical but if Yzerman wants a legit goalie for the future he will take Subban with the second 1st.

I still find Dansk and Vasilevski to be the better goalies in the draft. If we take a goalie in the first, it should be one of those two if their still on the board.

SY tried European goalies and so far it hasn't turned out well. I think he goes with the Canadian with great work ethic and unmatched reflexes.

Correction: Tampa has tried European goalies.

Correct, Tampa did try European goalies. Most of the time the circus was set-up in the front office, not really a ringing endorsement on why Tampa SHOULDN'T draft one of the better Euro goalies.

Also, Khabby is European and he won Tampa a Cup.

As I reported last night on Twitter, Steve Yzerman was in Moose Jaw last night to see potential top 10 picks Morgan Rielly and Griffin Reinhart go head to head. Both are defenceman, with Rielly being arguably the top offensive blueliner available in the 2012 draft.

Brian Burke was there as well as a host of other scouts and NHL executives.

If Chicago doesn't take Vasilevski before we do, and not taking Subban, would you rather have Vasilevski or Subban?

Steve Yzerman on the air right now on Moose Jaw radio.

On Morgan Rielly:

"His skating is the first thing that jumps out. That and his puck handling are at an elite level."

Neither in the 1st round, we have 2 pretty good AHL goalies so no need to draft one in the 1st who'll just be where they're at in 3 years. We need someone who can actually compete in the NHL in 3 years.

After watching the NFL draft it should only take a 5th,6th,7th to move up to 6 or 7.

I'm thinking he'd be a good 3rd/4th rounder. Possibly even a late 2nd. Those numbers are just freaky.

Also would like this guy to go as one of our 2nds
