I think it's fairly close. Bure had 58 and 59 goals in his prime years in the dead puck era, compared to 58 for Stamkos in this low scoring season. Playmaking they are relatively equal but Stamkos is better defensively. I honestly can't pick between them that's why I made the poll.

While he had Odjick watching his back; Bure also had to put up with alot more stuff that would result in suspensions today (well, some of the time anyhow with the NHL's "Wheel of Justice").
That's the reason why his career ended early (injuries). Granted, he was no angel but that often was in response to a cheap shot against him.
Ugh... people are going to start hating Stamkos because of this stuff.
I have many more reasons to hate the bolts and Stamkos before I'd put this poll into it.

I just think Bure was the more talented player and did more with less quality teammates. looking at the forwards Bure had in 93-94 compared to this years lightning?
I think the only position the canucks win is at goalie. tampa was brutal this year. I'm an Oielr fan and the bolts goalies made ours look good.
its closer then one thinks bure gets really overrated because of how he scored his goals. i mean bure was not a good playmaker, not like stamkos is either but stamkos is better imo

so stamkos current season is already more impressive then both of bures back to back 60 goal campaigns.
and its close to the season where he scored 58 (99-00)in FLA but i think stamkos will need a 65 goal year to be comparable to the 01-02 season in FLA

More dominant players during the early 90's made more goals. NHL achievements aren't graded on a curve.
Prime v Prime? Tough call. Said Stamkos, but this is the only year he's hit 50 without the type of help Bure never had, so I'm not at all sure. Overall body of work would be Bure. For now.

Bure tended to do it all himself (end to end rushes).
Bure had 59 goals and 92 points, and the next highest scorer had 37 points. Another player that you wish could've been healthy his whole career. Just a tremendous talent.
