Anyways Canucks have absolutely no excuses for not going on another deep run, or even not just winning it all.
They have outstanding depth at all positions, enough top end talent to do the job.
Booth, Burrows, Sedins, Kesler, Pahlsson, Kassian, Raymond, Lapierre, Higgins... it goes on and on. Rock solid top 4 defence corps. It's Stanley Cup or bust for them IMO. I could be very wrong but I don't see St.Louis being a serious threat. Maybe next year for them.
All this doesn't matter though cuz the Pens are going to win it and Sid getting a Conn Smythe of his own.
Hey, always nice to see we're in your thoughts. I might drop by a few times during the playoffs.
I wish I had your confidence about the first round. Kings have been great post-trade deadline now that they finally figured out how to score, Sharks will be dangerous if Thornton plays like he did last playoffs, and there's Phoenix - a Dave Tippett squad backed up by Mike Smith who's given them amazing goaltending. Unfortunately for us (or "fortunately", to you guys) there's not gonna be any easy series in the West this year.
I agree it won't be an easy series but Vancouver just has too much talent and a chip on their shoulder. They really feel like they have something to prove so I feel they're going to come out with a lot of fire in the first round. The teams in the Pacific have been in playoff mode for over a month now and they're bound to run out of steam. If their opponent were any Central Division team, I'd have a much different tone but I feel the elite team that is due to be upset by a Pacific team here isn't Vancouver, it's St. Louis.

Agreed, the team has all the pieces and plenty of playoff experience. They are also on a roll right now going into the playoffs. 7 in a row they've won I think. Wouldn't be a stretch to suggest they win their final 2 against the Flames and us.
Quick can steal a series Cujo style. I'd definitely want to avoid the Kings if I were the Canucks.
3.32GAA and .900SVP career playoff numbers aren't indicative of that.
In all seriousness, LA is a team that I think will hit the reset button in the playoffs. They'll be a dangerous first round opponent for anyone - deep offense if they can find a way to turn it on, and a great team defense.

Not at all, but I can see one of you or Calgary spoiling the show. We'll coast in one of the games, that's for sure.
I like what this thread has become: A place for Nucks fans to come and shoot the shiz with us, without the trolling crap. I feel like Hugh Hefner, inviting a bunch of virgins to the Playboy Mansion to get their cherries popped.

Haven't scored myself in 22 years, BTW.
The last time the Oilers won the Cup? I'd buy a couple more years worth of lotion if I were you.

Nah, more like 37-3
Dave Gagner mocks Sam before the game about how disappointed he is in him, and goes torrid in the first 5 minutes scoring 6 goals. Luongo gets pulled and Schneider hold the Oilers and Gagner at bay until the second intermission where Lapierre tries to dive his way off the ice knocking the whole team over easy onto Schneider. As they all look for a powerplay, Schneider is buried and breaks his leg and is out for the season.
In the third, Gagner scores 10 more goals and assists on another 15 (all scored by Eberle). Eager laughs maniacally at the Sedins while staring them right in the eye. Daniel can't handle it and leaves the bench and then realizes he has a concussion and was imagining it all. Or was he? Sedins take their next shift (for some reason Daniel is playing this night) and Eager gets on with Hordichuk. Sedin tickles Hordi and Hordi is out for the season by laughing too hard he broke his clavicle. Eager then takes revenge by giving both Sedins a double clothesline from hell and Sedins are out for the season with broken necks.
All is not lost however, in an act of kindness (or was it?) Theo Peckham scores on his own net 3 times in 2 seconds (don't ask me how, I don't know) and is awarded a 5-year contract for his character.
I don't think the 2011-12 Canucks are as good as the 2010-11 Canucks. Overall their players have not performed near the level they had a year ago. While I think they definitely have a chance to win the cup, I think they will have a tougher time getting to the finals. I also think there are a more teams in the east that pose a threat than last year.
Come one come all to cheer fot the Nucks to lose, or win and then lose, whatever it is.
Sorry a couple objections to this image.
The 9 Canucks to hate are:
Gillis: Main culprit for the current persona
Kesler: arrogant
Hansen: dirty (see game 7, last 5 min)
Lappierre: troll
Hank: embellish-er
Daniel: like always, see brother
Luongo: cries
Bieksa: dat snarl
Burrows: do you need an explanation?
Higgins is a very hard working and honest player. Salo is also very hard to hate.

Vancouver Canucks fan here (Ice Pak holder to boot)... Don't mind the Jets avatar, as their return thrust them to my second favourite team as I grew up in the Peg.
For the past three years, I have kept my Oilers tickets to go the games - I split with a buddy - because Edmonton has such a young and exciting team. Its a toss up between the Oilers and Senators as to who is my third favourite team (it won't ever be a US based squad), even though that third place spot is significantly lower than the top two. I am indifferent about the Habs, but just detest the Flamers and Stinkin Leafies.

Alright, that out of the way... this thread is solid. No better way to spend your offseason than ragging on your in-division rivals. I can't say I agree with all the sentiments, but its tough to overlook the typical fan-bias I have for my Nucks.
I just don't understand the hate for the team, beyond the shenanigans that Burrows pulls and maybe the yappiness of Lapierre. Malhotra, Salo, Higgins, the Sedins, Schneider, Edler and some others are just class acts on and off the ice.
Yea, I understand the feelings people have toward the twins, but its mostly uncalled for. They get called divers, but when you watch them as much as I have, you notice that they take a beating in the corners when they are cycling and rarely ever use that diving tactic. As for whining, these guys are telling the truth - something that has been agreed upon by fanbases across the NHL - that the reffing is beyond inconsistent and downright brutal.
Luongo - dayum... I have no idea where to go on this guy. I guess I should state that I own a Luongo jersey, but always wear my Henrik or old-school Linden jersey to the games now. Do I trust him; not as much as I should of our starting goalie... But to say that he was the reason we lost the SCF last year is naive. 8 goals in 7 games while winning three (1-0, 1-0, 2-1) is not enough offense for ANY goalie. The way he lost those other games, hmmm - yea, less than desirable.

One last thing - the rioting was the most disgusting display I have ever witnessed. I hope those non-fans all get significant fines/jail time they deserve.

Have fun with this thread and please do NOT win the 1st overall pick again... Your team is already too good (in a couple of seasons)!!
