Well, besides the fact that you are horribly, horribly wrong about what offensive contribution looks like and how significant a young player actually having the temerity to struggle against big league pitching the first time he sees it is.
See, that's just not true. Truth is, Reddick didn't struggle the first time he saw big league pitching. As a matter of fact, he feasted on it. It was the second and third times he saw it that he struggled, which raises red flags to anyone who is even remotely objective.

Nailed it again.
Reddick had a freakin 1.162 OPS on July 9th. For the remainder of July, August and September he had a .750ish OPS, a freakin .603, and .714 OPS respectively. Averaged out that equates to roughly a .700-.710 numbers wise, which...is the same as Kalish's season at 22 years old. Stop misconstruing the actual numbers to make him look better than he is because he had some crazy start where he seemingly got a hit every time he was up for a month and a half, before falling way back down to Earth for the final 2 and a half months.
I think it's safe to rename this thread as 2012, part 1.
Let's bury 2011 in terms of baseball, shall we?
Agreed.
ANYWAYS...
Let's talk about something else than stupid Josh Reddick.

Give it a rest. Reddick is average at best.
Exactly. I honestly don't even know why I bothered. It's not worth the aggravation. Bobby T in the other thread even showed how front loaded the numbers were:
Quote:
first half: .393/.429/.672. that's a middle of the order bat. unfortunately, that came in 70 plate appearances.
second half: .244/.293/.389. that's not a middle of the order bat and that came in 208 plate appearances.
I mean, does anything really need to be said after seeing this spelled out for you? Seriously.

Despite the way last season wrapped up, and how some of the players acted like petulant little babies, I'm honestly excited for this season to kick off! Go Sox!!

I kept telling myself I didn't care about baseball, yadda yadda, but I'm a sucker and I do. I'm glad it's opening day again.

Tell us the truth, did you spell Saltalamacchia on your own or did you look it up?
We shall see. Still uneasy about this team mostly because of ownership and Bobby V having way too much face time for my liking.
Can't wait to see Pedey and Jacoby tho!

Line up is pretty weak after you get past Ortiz, better get some big production from the top of the order.

Are you intentionally disregarding Youk? His health is certainly an issue, but he's been a pretty productive hitter when he's played. That being said, how is it any different than last year, when they had one of the highest scoring offenses in all of MLB?

I'm sorry, I ment to say I forsee 9 homeruns off Verlander in the 1st inning. This team is different from last year, it's weaker offensively although the expert from South Florida will correct me and tell how this team is the second coming of Murderer's Row.

Oh noes. Lester started the year off by giving up a hit to the first batter he faced. The season is ruined. No point in playing the games. They're going 0-162.
In all seriousness though, why not actually respond to my question?
You know, I think people are reacting too much to the emotion of September when anaylzing the roster. I think that we're going to see some of the skill that caused everyone to pick us to go the distance last year, come through a little better now with no expectations.
