everywhere i read said it was peace of mind. i don't live up there anymore (thank god) so i can't say one way or another. i read and do research, which i know sounds crazy, about things since i'm not in the middle of everything.
Quote:
"Too many pitches in the middle of the plate. They hit a changeup, a cutter, two sinkers and a fastball, and every one was down the middle of the plate," he said. "Everything I threw hard went down the middle, and Fielder even hit a changeup that went down the middle."
yeah, look at those excuses! all he talks about is his thumb.
I don't believe a word the team says about injuries anymore. We'll see how it ends up with his finger sooner or later.
Too many pitches down the plate, too many this or that. He was beyond terrible today. Where is a simple " I was terrible, I pitched poorly, I will be better next start" statement, I don't see that anywhere.
I'm not worried 2 games in, more so disappointed. I figured we'd be ready to go, but I guess not.
and if beckett said something like that, people would be all over him.
that's the reason i try to be positive about things in here. the players, the team, the manager, everyone. they're damned if they do, damned if they don't.
well, the a's certainly didn't get cespedes for his glove. 3-0 mariners and felix is dealing so far. once this game is over, i'll have watched 4 mariners/a's games.

I understand. Its hard to be positive though, one of many faults I have.
I like what I saw about Justin Thomas. I'd like to see what he can do in perhaps a closer situation. He was dealing out there. Strong pitches.
i tend to lean more negative, ask my wife. but it's too easy to turn into a negative whiner like most in here.
haha. No, he's not and for that Id be worried a bit. But the way he pitched, he could be a closer. Idk, he was very confident in the way he pitched. One positive thing to come out of the loss.
Beckett didn't look good today. It was his first start of the season, it's over, he'll start again in 5 days. To be fair, even if he had given up 3 runs, the offense still didn't help him out. Youk hasn't looked good, but I think it's only a matter of time before the rest of the lineup starts to really hit their stride. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.

They'll be fine once they start to face the weak sisters of the league and then TTG can strut his stuff. Until then they will be exposed for the lousy team that they are. I'm being realistic while others here are in la la land.

Is it true that the FAA had to divert flights from the Detroit area yesterday from all the missiles leaving Comerica Park?
I was thinking the same thing. He had an awful spring and I doubt hes going to be good in the field this year.
Cabrera just hit another HR
And Bobby V is already giving Youk a seat. Wow. This is really bad. I was all for moving the guy in the off-season since I didn't think they'd resign him, but I never thought he'd drop off this quickly.
No. Never. A million times no. I'd rather they brought an ineffective Tim Wakefield back out of retirement than ever consider using Lackey in their rotation again. It was easily the most misguided signing of all time by Epstein. They needed a corner OF with power to replace Bay and Matt Holiday was available, but instead of addressing a clear need, they overspent on a useless lump of crap like Lackey. Just horrible. So to drag out my answer, never. I'm not sure if Theo lost his mind, but the Lackey deal and then resigning Beckett to a long term extension for more money than Lackey got would have gotten most GM's fired.
