When it comes to choosing who will be the next person to run the Montreal Canadiens, owner Geoff Molson says he wants someone experienced enough to handle the Montreal pressure cooker, speaks French, a proven winner and an individual obsessed with winning. He built a team that came within a win of the Stanley Cup in 2006, and who knows what could've happened had the core he assembled, namely Chris Pronger, had decided to stay in Edmonton.
Lastly, imagine Lowe and Brian Burke leading the charge for the Habs and Leafs in the same division! He would be the perfect adversary to want to crush Montreal's arch-rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Think of the intensity that would be rekindled to that rivalry with both those egos in the same division. Sounds fun, doesn't it?
Why go to a pressure packed situation where you are expected to get results when you are so tight with the owner that you probably have a job for life with no pressure at all?
I heard this on the radio here in Toronto (TSN 1050) - he (James) was talking to Dreger about this as well. Dreger said that he asked Lowe point blank if he was interested and he said no. He's too close with Katz and the Oilers.
Dreger also said that Lowe is now involved in a completely different part of the team (the business side) and that Lowe did seem to enjoy being a GM more.
I would think if MTL is very interested they could make Lowe change his mind. IMO its a good fit. Dregers comment about Lowe being involved only in the business side just shows all those clowns who think Lowe is still somehow pulling the strings in EDM are just that, clowns.

True. Everyone knows it's Katz that pulls the strings. *cough*Horcoffcontract*cough*

so one comment by Dreger makes it true? not like Lowe would actually tell the truth either, if he still was involved on the player personnel side.
I'll continue to be one of those clowns you refer to that thinks Lowe still has influence over hockey decisions.

I'll agree he has influence (as do the assistant GMs, Katz and even Renny)... but he's not the one making final decisions like some people around here think.

I guess you've never watched "Oil Change". It's pretty apparent after watching the series who the puppet master is. You should also watch "Weekend with Bernie" .... Tambo = Bernie.
