IMO, after Round 1 when more draft positions are settled.

Perhaps sign-up earlier but don't start the game till the end of Round 1.

Detroit is done for this game. Missed out on a couple of Free Agents, however we are confident with our group going forward. We imagine we will pick up a FA to be come deadline time but for now we go into the season like this.

Biggest additions are Brendan Morrow and Ryan Miller

Franzen(3.954) - Datsyuk(6.7) - Nyquist (875k)
Bertuzzi (2.075) - Zetterberg(6.08) - Morrow (4.0)
Holmstrom (1.5) - Helm (1.5) - Cleary (2.8)
Abdelkader (1.15) - Mursak (550k) -Drew Miller (875k)

Lidstrom(6.2) - Ericsson (3.25)
Smith (875k) - Kronwall (4.75)
White(2.875) - Quincey (3.25
Robidas (3.3)

Miller (6.25)
Clemmenson (600k)

After unsuccessfully going after some big names in the free agency market, the Devils are very pleased to announce the signing of Dennis Wideman to a 4 year deal worth 20 million dollars which includes a partial NTC. The addition of Dennis will improve our mobility on the backend and his presence on the power play will be felt immediately.

The Devils are done all movement for the offseason and will be eagerly waiting for training camp to begin.

ILYA KOVALCHUK (6.666) - TRAVIS ZAJAC (3.900) - SIMON GAGNE (3.500)

PATRICK ELIAS (6.000)) - DEREK ROY (4.000) - DANIUS ZUBRUS (3.400)

WOJTEK WOLSKI (2.000) - ADAM HENRIQUE (0.850) - DAVID CLARKSON (2.666)

COLIN FRASER (0.800) - ADAM BURISH (1.100) - BRANDON YIP (0.750)

DENNIS WIDEMAN (5.000) - ANTON VOLCHENKOV (4.000)

ADAM LARSSON (0.925) - ANDY GREEN (3.000)

MAREK ZIDLICKY (4.000) - HENRIK TALLINDER (3.375)

MARK FAYNE (0.850)

JONAS HILLER (4.500)

MARTIN BRODEUR (4.5000)

CAP: 64.93 MILLION

So, I floated this idea by IR yesterday, and I think he's so excited by it he hasn't even had the time to respond!

In FA Game #2, what if we had to use THESE rosters? Every GM gets a different team, but they have to start with whatever the old GM left them.

I think that would be an interesting spin.

Let's try this again

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Pavelski
Glencross-Pahlsson-Kassian
Tangradi-Lapierre-Winnik
Mayers

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Kuba
Tanev-Salo
Gragnani, Alberts

Luongo
Lack

In: Pavelski, Glencross, Winnik, Tangradi, Mayers, Kuba, Lack, SJ 1st 2013, Pitts 2nd 2013, Matthew Nieto, Mitch Wahl, Scott Harrington
Out: Schneider, Booth, Raymond, Malhotra, Ballard

Successful offseason in our eyes. We tinkered with the idea of re-tooling the core, but we remain confident in them (Sedins, Burr, Luongo, Kesler, Edler) and we feel with some new faces in the supporting cast, we'll be ready for another strong run at the cup this coming post season. We've left some major cap flexibility, something the team hasn't done successfully in recent years. (Haven't crunched the numbers but it should be around 6-7M remaining)

Added some nice youth in Nieto, Wahl, Harrington and Tangradi, along with the picks in the upcoming draft.

This offseason didn't really work out as we wanted so the Rangers were content with keeping the roster as is. We feel it was a pretty good offseason for us.
