More news out of Big D:

Michael Grabner, Rhett Rahkshani, Ty Wishart

Mike Ribeiro

After four consecutive seasons without a playoff game, the Dallas Stars are starting a tear-down, bringing in some youth for a different approach. Grabner gives us another option on the wing, where we've lacked depth for quite some time. Rahkshani and Wishart will both compete for opening day spots on the roster at training camp, but will most likely head down to Texas for development before rejoining the Dallas Stars possibly during the next regular season, as call-ups.

We wish Mike Ribeiro all the best as a New York Islander.

Get your NTC/NMC waiver requests in quick. Stars lost so Coyotes in playoffs. I'm happy. But I guess Quebec City is...

Ott Headed to the Desert

The have sent Brandon Gormley, one of their top defensive prospects, to the in exchange for forward Steve Ott.

"The price was high," a Coyotes spokesman said. "But with our depth among D prospects, and wanting a guy exactly like Ott, we decided to pay it."

Ott made his NHL debut in 2002 under now Phoenix coach Dave Tippett, and played for Tip in Dallas for 7 years. He excels in two-way play; can line up at all three forward positions; contribute on the Power Play and the Penalty Kill; is great in the face-off circle; and has developed into a solid secondary scorer. He is also never afraid to drop the gloves.

Ott is expected to play left wing on a line that will include Shane Doan.

"Brandon will develop into a top-quality NHLer, but with the play of David Rundblad, Connor Murphy, Mike Stone and Chris Summers, we're confident that in both the short- and long-term, this deal will play huge dividends for us."

Still shopping Nino Niederreiter + picks/prospects for a top pairing defenseman. Our 1st rounder could be available, but it really depends on where the Isles finish after Saturday night.

I think the return was very good considering Ribiero is entering a contract year.

Still taking offers for goaltender Tim Thomas. If you have any interest, PM me.

Also listening to offers for David Krejci. Would need a solid, two-way defenseman capable of logging big minutes in return.

I'm very happy with the return I got. Sure, Rakhshani and Wishart aren't exactly "marquis" prospects (we'll get to that later ), but both are still young with plenty to offer, and if they prove their worth at training camp they could find their way onto a regular job with the Stars.

And Grabner is only one season removed from a 34-goal campaign. Given regular minutes alongside Jamie Benn, as well as ample time on the power play, we feel he can match if not exceed those numbers as a Dallas Star. His production this season left much to be desired, but he'll rebound.

Now, about that marquis prospect...

The Dallas Stars are ecstatic to welcome Brandom Gormley to the team. After passing on him in 2010 to instead draft Jack Campbell, we simply could not pass up this offer. Gormley joins Philip Larsen, Jamieson Oleksiak, and Patrik Nemeth to form a solid quartet of defensive stalwarts in Dallas's prospect system. With Philip already getting a taste of NHL action, it won't be long before the others follow him up to the pro ranks.

Steve Ott has bled Dallas green for a very long time, but it was clear to management that the constant failure of this team to reach the postseason was wearing on him, and it was affecting both his play and his emotions. When approached by management and told about the offer, he realized it was a great opportunity. We wish him all the best in Glendale.

Received a bunch of interest for Stewart, Elliot, and Berglund.
No deal has been made.
They're still on the block!

Also, Andy Mcdonald

BJUGSTAD, NICK

"This deal was extremely hard for the Panthers organization to proceed with, Kulikov will be an excellent defenseman in the future with the Avalanche, the depth on defense in the Panthers system made Kulikov expandable. Duchene, while having an off year, is an elite talent who will only get better as he gets older, we love our one-two punch down the middle with Duchene and Weiss. The hardest part had to be giving up Bjugstad, he has been exceeding expectations at the University Of Minnesota and we hope that he has an excellent career with the Avalanche, as we know he will. The Panthers would like to thank the Avalanche with the quick negotiations and thank Dmitri and Nick for their contributions to the Panthers organization."

Given our recent moves and interest, Clarke MacArthur is available. Looking for picks or prospects in return.
