Montreal - The Carey Conundrum

So basically assuming the Carey Price doesn't want to sign with the habs and he has to be moved.

what do u think it would cost?

who is looking for a goalie?

who has what the habs need and want and would be willing to offer it?

I can see Toronto, Tampa going hard.

Tampa could offer

Vinny L.
2012 1st (A bit high, but draft Subban)
conditional first 2013(how many point vinny gets or something)

i would hope Toronto could trade for a 1st in the 14-22 range so they can package that, maybe Holzer,Macarthur/Kulemin for a mid first.

Toronto offers

1st 2012 (trade)(15-20) - they draft Malcolm Subban
1st 2013 (Tor)( ? - ?) - ...
Franson - Great PMD, good on the body, shot is almost never blocked)

Would you still have to sweeten it more because the rivalry?

Getting Carey Price would be awesome, but I think he likes it in Montreal unfortunately

Has there been any talk at all about Carey not wanting to sign, or is this just pipe dream speculation? It would take a massive overpayment to get him to Toronto anyway. I'm sure the Habs wouldn't want him burning them over and over by staying in the division.

Send a message via MSN to Belak Attack
There's just no way it'll happen in any scenario..

I would jump up and down like a schoolgirl if we got him, but I just can't see it.

They took Lars Eller & Ian Schultz for Halak, I'm wondering how much more they'll ask for Price if they do trade him.

I don't see him leaving, though.

Montreal doesnt even have a GM to talk contracts right now...

Maybe they are going to blow up the team and start a real rebuild around subban and the younger guns??

this is all what-ifs. I guess it should have been "value of" really. but regardless if hes being moved, who wants him, and whats it gonna take?

Offer sheet him to a steep long term contract, but not high enough so that Montreal will still match, so that you can screw their cap over

Assume that Carey Price wants to leave the Habs because Patrick Roy. If we are going to make crap up in order to start threads might as well make it interesting.

Considering The Habs have zero goaltending depth, trading Price is simply not an option IMO. The best chance to get him out of MTL would be an offer sheet. In that case MTL would probably match just about any offer for him.

Montreal has done everything they can to make Price the face of their franchise. They wouldnt have simply traded away Halak without knowing that price would remain a Hab for many years so I would say its highly unlikely he would leave. Offer sheeting price wouldnt be an option either since many teams wont want to give up the compensation. The fact that he gets along very well with many teammates on and off the ice doesnt help either.

The only glimer of hope there is to getting price would be if the circus that is the Habs management deters him from the organization.

I can't see any logical reason why they would rid themselves of Price. The notion of Toronto getting him amounts to little more than wishful thinking, imo.

When has Price ever given any indication he wants to leave Montreal?
