Awesome to win while dead things are held pointless.
Does it help the Preds if Hawks win? Anyone know?
it depends on who you want to play... we have to win against colorado most likely for home ice.. then if CHI wins tonight, the winner of the CHI/DET we would most likely play excluding 3 point games..
If Chicago loses tonight they can't make it anywhere better than sixth.
If Chicago wins tonight then they can beat Detroit in regulation and take over 5th
Next Game:
The Preds need 1 point to ensure a 4th place finish at this point. A loss in OT or SO puts us in 4th. A loss in regulation would require a DET Loss in OT/SO or a Loss in Regulation.
If Chicago wins, then the winner of the Chicago vs Detroit game...as long as it doesn't go to OT..will face us. If somehow Chicago and Detroit tie in points..Detroit's ROW will put them in 5th.
So, interesting next couple of days for all of us. At least Nashville will still be working hard..against a team that's (Hopefully) gearing up to go golfing. Here's are chance for the Home Ice Advantage

Who holds the tie breaker?? Det or Nash, Det has more "wins" but Preds have more real wins
Well Well, it's us and Detroit now for sure. The only way we lose the 4 seed is if Detroit gets 2 points on Saturday and we get none. We own the tiebreaker with them so even 1 point locks up a 4 seed no matter what.

Chicago can take the tiebreak with Detroit with a regulation win on Saturday. They can tie at 101 points and 39 ROW which throws it to most points gained in head to head games ... the Hawks take that one.
A win in any way, shape or form or OTL and we take 4th.

EDIT: I said CHI winning in OT would also get them 5th, was incorrect. Only regulation does it.
Don't think this is right. If CHI beats DET in anything other than a SO, they will get 5th. They will have tied ROW and they have the 2nd tiebreak over DET.
An over time win by Chi would still give Detroit one more point than them.

Thanks for the clarification. I was starting to get a headache trying to figure it out.
These were the scenarios I laid out on another forum:
If CHI beats DET in anything other than a SO, CHI will get 5th. If CHI beats them in a SO, CHI gets 6th because its ROW wouldn't move to 39 to tie DET's.
If NSH loses in OT to COL, and DET loses in OT to CHI; NSH gets 4th and DET gets 5th from ROW tiebreak advantage.
If NSH wins in any way, 4th is guaranteed.
If NSH loses in any fashion and DET wins, DET gets 4th.
Sorry .. but you're wrong.
Chicago has 99 points after tonight, Detroit has 101. Chicago has to win in regulation to take 5th. 99+2=101 ... 101+anything=more.
If Nashville gets one point, we get home ice. We hold the ROW tiebreak and the Wings can't pass 103 points.
A Preds loss in regulation coupled by any Wings win, Wings get 4th and the Preds get 5th (Det @ 103, Preds @ 102).
