Maybe that will help them but yea goaltending is a big issue for sure.

Thing is...I dont see habs passing Grigo for two reasons. One He is an absolute beast skill wise, although he has to figure out other aspects of the game, the thought of having a second Evengi Malkin would be too enticing too much to pass up on. After drafting hope and pray to god that all works out. Two, Roy connection and him playing the QMJHL is a big thing IMO.

hard to say where Galchenyuk would go if were healthy. I had him 3-4 and around the same as Girgerenko. Obviously with the injury you had to go with Grigs.

I would sincerely be disappointed if we were to trade up and pick Grigorenko over Galchenyuk. Id be happy either way but I just think Gally will be better. His work ethic and compete level is second to none.

ya i think both of them would go back to junior, and then its not like they would step right in and light up the league but i'm just thinking down the road.

its just getting those missing pieces together

If Galchenyuk didn't get that horrible injury, he'd be in the NHL next year.

Definitely, i love both of their potential, although I ofc favour for Galy more than the other.

I think Grigorenko steps in right away. He's ready physically and has nothing to prove in the Q.

Yeah, but when you draft a centre that's that big and that skilled you can easily work on simple things like defensive coverage and face-offs. I just feel it's better for him to learn in the NHL than go back to a league that he just dominated this year. It probably wouldn't hurt him to go back, but if a team is drafting him in the top 3 they're going to want him in their line-up this coming season. He's ready for that in my opinion. He just needs good coaching and guidance.

Not necessarily always the case.

We truly have been spoiled in the recent years of players jumping in and making an impact but there has been also cases where its been bad for the development. He is no Sean Couturier to jump in and play in the third line, neither is he a tavares (yet) or a stamkos (yet) to play on the top line. Even Malkin returned the next year before he made the bigs.

I understand uncertainty that surrounds concussions, but nobody seems to have a problem drafting a guy that just missed an entire year with a serious knee injury in Galchenyuk (I have no problem with the Leafs picking him either). Yakupov also suffered a concussion this year.

The reason Gally is ranked high is not only because of his skill but also his on and off ice routine, when scouts see they can't help but gush about it.

there is a decent chance that we can move into 4th overall after saturday. NYI playing CBJ, unless NYI seriously ****s up and we lose to the habs, we can secure 4th spot. We ultimately have to lose to the habs to get 4th, and if we win who knows what will happen, but most likely we will drop a few positions in the draft.

I'm probably the biggest Galy-fan out there, but if Grigo is in our reach you take him and don't look back. He is hands down the most skilled in this draft from what I've seen at least, yes he is more skilled than Yakupov IMO. I personally doubt that the media is right about his work ethic, too.

My current list (Leafs perspective):
1. Yakupov
2. Grigorenko
3. Forsberg
4. Galchenyuk
5. Murray
6. Dumba
7. Rielly
8. Teravainen
9. Faksa
10. Collberg

Assuming the standings stay the same, everyone keeps the pick and Columbus wins the lottery:
1. CBJ - Yakupov
2. EDM - Murray
3. MTL - Grigorenko
4. NYI - Forsberg/Dumba
5. Leafs - Galchenyuk/Forsberg

So who would you pick at 7?

Assuming it goes

1. Yakupov
2. Grigorenko
3. Dumba
4. Forsberg
5. Murray
6. Galchenyuk

7. ???

I think we have to seriously consider one of Reilly/Trouba/Reinhart/Faksa. Faksa really intrigued me before he suffered the serious concussion. Reilly would certainly add more mobility to our D, which is something we need in order for the team to improve.

Gaunce and Girgensons would be good additions but they'd also be a serious reach at 7.

I'm against trading down. I'd rather just take the BPA at 7 (quality over quantity).
