Not saying Tavares isn't awesome now, but the skating coach made him a better skater and we saw the effects of that this year.
But now what if worked with Gary Roberts who has strength trained Stamkos, James Neal, Jordan Staal and Jeff Skinner. I think it would make Tavares even more of a force on the puck and put with his hockey instincts, a lot harder to stop.

Not sure if it's the same Gary Roberts, but if it is that is pretty ironic considering your profile pic.
As far as the topic goes, I honestly wouldn't change anything with Tavares. His skating is already miles ahead of where it was so obviously something is working. Let him continue to do what he has already been doing and he will continue to develop into an even better player.

I think it's more line mates.
JT has consistently shown strong core strength all year.
Put him with established/legitimate 1st line wingers and he should be a 95-100+ point player/year.
I think they have done an amazing job with him and I wouldn't change a thing. I would hope some of the younger prospects (Strome, Nelson) take a page from JT and sign up there now!

I wish Bailey would work out with him. But something tells me he has more of a social life in the offseason compared to JT.

Whether he does or doesn't, I doubt he will this offseason. He's basically going into a contract year knowing he'll be getting 2nd line minutes with Nielsen and Okposo. I wouldn't be surprised if this kid works his ass off this offseason to establish himself in time for a nice payday.
Everyone can get better. JT does need to get more strength, but what I want him to work on this offseason is his shot. His shot is not very good if you ask me. I also cant understand why he is so bad on the one timer. but if hes able to improve that onetimer he will be so much more dangerous on the power play. It's gotten to the point where he doesn't even try for the one timer in the right face off dot anymore. He's always missing the puck when he tries for that shot. It makes no sense considering he awesome his hands are otherwise.
I don't even think JT knows what a social life is. He hardly has a personality.
Haha, come on man.
All of these guys train hard in the offseason, I wouldn't be too worried about that. Next year is a pivotal year for many of our 'core' guys. They have no more excuses and they're all healthy (in that they are not injured).

His shot is not up to snuff and he probably knows it. He should have 40+ goals this year considering his high amount of shots and low shooting percentage.
Again, I have absolutely no doubt that he'll bust his butt to improve ever facet of his game with extra attention paid to his shot. Before the season, I thought JT would emerge as a superstar in 2 years. Looks like he decided to skip a year.

Imagine if you were accurate with that 2-year plan? I'd imagine we'd be writing Yakupov into our 2012-13 lineup right about now.

I honestly didn't think we were going to be this bad. I guess I drank too much kool-aid in the offseason. It's all out of my system and I'm already preparing for next year's Draft. That MacKinnon kid is amazing and the projected top 5 looks REALLY good.
Anyway, if we're lucky enough to get Yakupov... JT will seriously be challenging for the Art Ross next year.

Wrong. JT has a girlfriend who is in college now in Toronto. They have been going together since H.S., she visits when off school and over the summer break.

Truth. Been saying that for 3 years. It's surprising since he is considered a great goal scorer. Moulson has a quicker, harder release on his shot, and more accurate also.
The one-timer is even more bewildering as be almost never receives the pass cleanly, and when he does, manages to fumble the chance.
And still he scores 30 average the last two years. I fully expect him to have a much improved shot in the fall.
My friend took a picture of him and Matt Martin when they went to the Nickelback concert a few years ago. JT had the biggest smile on his face.
I'm sure he knows how to have a good time with his friends.
Good lawd man, please tell me you're joking. The only way that story could be worse is if he was wearing a plaid leisure suit. If true, screw skating, he needs some training on music.
JT needs too Work on his shot........Thats last tool hes too work on imo before becoming a 100 pt potential player.....Most of his goals come from his great hands and ability to get into great scoring position. If he adds a deadly shot to the he will be a 40-45 goal scorer on the regular......JT works hard and im not worried about him. He knows what he needs to do to get better and he will do what ever it takes....
