Right now, Giroux is probably the better player but Tavares just an incredible player. I have to admit, coming into his rookie year, I thought he wouldn't do so well because of his skating ability, but he's really improved in that aspect. And even so, he doesn't require to be fast to be effective. Sometimes, he'll just wander harmlessly around the offensive zone, and before you know it, the puck is in the back of the net. I can't wait to see him get better wingers than Moulson or Paranteau.
this is a tough one, Giroux is having one hell of a year. It's hard to say what kind of numbers Tavares would put up playing on a team like the flyers. This year I would say Giroux but I'd take Tavares as soon as next year.
Right now I think they are about even, maybe a slight nod to Giroux. Tavares is a couple years younger, and is playing with far inferior talent around him. From this point forward I would take Tavares.
I think Tavares is going to take every off season and game as an opportunity to improve, I think he has the potential to be a top 3 center in the league and I think he will get there. Tavares is a treat to watch he is really dominant, his skating has really improved, he has extremely good hands, he can score, and he is only getting better in his own end, I expect nothing but improvements next season.Giroux had a slightly better season on a lot better team this year.
Can't go wrong with either, but I've watched both a lot and I still believe that JT has the higher ceiling. Not that Moulson and PAP are bad players, but JT pretty much brings all the talent to his line and they feed off of him. I'd much rather have JT flanked by Jagr and Hartnell over Moulson and PAP.
I'd take Giroux. They're both great players but Giroux is on a better contract (not by a huge margin, Tavares is locked up for a great contract too), they are both creative players and make players around them better (Hartnell/Moulson/Parenteau etc), but Giroux is a better defensive player than Tavares.

I would say the linemates is not much a difference, it's secondary scoring that highly favors Giroux. It's much easier to score when the other team has to make a gameplan around the whole team rather then one player. When it comes to the Islanders I am guessing the only other player besides Tavares they might really focus on stopping is Streit.
Also when you on a high scoring team, better chance you get into those games where you get a bunch of meaningless points in a 7-1 game(where the other team basically lets up and you get a few goals due to lazy mistakes). If the Islanders had a second line that could score, they probably would have had a few more 7-1 games this season(hence Tavares could have gotten more other teams players getting lazy points)

Tavares by a little bit
Moulson's VERY underrated. But put a power forward like Hartnell (who doesn't turn 30 until April 19, although it seems as though he's been in the NHL longer as he has already played 841 NHL games) on JT's line and that would help JT a lot. He does the dirty work and gets the dirty goals...the Islanders need a player like him.

Has Nino played with Tavares much?
I went to the preseason game against the Devils and they were on a line together but thats the last I knew of I didnt really keep track
No, up until the last 10-15 games Nino was basically playing on the 4th line. They moved him up to the 3rd line when it looked like we have no chance of making it. I think a player like Nino is still probably 2-3 years from being a legit first liner(power forwards generally take longer to mature)

Yeah I knew he had been mostly 4th line but was just curious if he had much exposure to Tavares
Kinda sucks whats happened to him, he seems like a good kid whos talent is being wasted right now
