Don't give me this BS that you don't want the Presidents' Trophy
No one's saying that winning the cup is not the most important thing. However winning the cup and being a Presidents' Trophy winner are not mutually exclusive. Don't tell me you don't want be the best team in a 30 team league after a marathon 82 game season. This is not the NFL where you can have a fluky 16 games, you play 82 games, there's nothing fluky about that. There's nothing better IMO than to be the best team in the league for 82 games and win the Cup. That means you were the best team from October through June. Nothing more dominant than that. If we win the cup I want to be the Presidents' Trophy winners when we do it. If we lose in the playoffs I'd rather have the consolation prize of being the Presidents' Trophy. I'd rather be the 92 Rangers than any other Rangers team that lost in the playoffs that wasn't in the finals at the very least. Why does everyone on HF think it's cool to say that the PT means nothing? Today's game sure as hell meant something.

Don't really care about the Presidents Trophy. It's meaningless.
presidents trophy doesn't mean ****. WHo wins the cup is what matters. If you win the presidents but dont win the cup, no one remembers you. Your just another loser with the rest of the 29 teams

First of all, if we do make the finals and play Vancouver and even worse St. Louis if they end up going ahead of us in points, you wouldn't want home ice? Second, I don't know what the downside of the Presidents' Trophy is, unless fans really believe that the team will have more pressure as the PT winners than just the #1 seed. I don't know why fans wouldn't want to be considered the best team in an 82 game season. Winning the cup and the PT is not mutually exclusive. If we win both, we'll be the most dominant team in both the regular season and postseason.
If you're going to respond like that, why respond at all? I'm not outraged at all, I just don't get the attitude that the PT is nothing and it's all about the cup. It's not mutually exclusive.
Canucks lost. Win tomorrow, it's ours or all three teams lose, it's ours.
Forget that.......rest some players......pack it in against washington and hope carolina beats the panthers. Washington wins and panthers lose and we get panthers in round one.

I think you might be a little prone to emotional rollercoasters as evidenced by the GDT.
It's not that the PT is 'nothing', it's that this team far overachieved during the regular season and there is no sense in losing any sleep over missing out on the PT after what this team has accomplished this season. In other words, you don't let it 'ruin your weekend', as Drury would say.
I was expecting a loss tonight with Biron starting against the high powered Pens offense... It doesn't bother me.... Home ice through the first 3 rounds is good enough for me, no guarantee that we even make it to the later rounds in the playoffs....
I'm stuck in a hard place. I'd rather Florida in the 1st round, but want that banner. I guess though having Florida would make it somewhat easier to get the most important banner. So if it takes losing to Washington to get Florida, I'll do it.

Who's scared of the Caps? If you can't beat the Caps in the 1st round, your team has no business competing for the Stanley Cup in the later rounds. Brings 'em on.

Couldn't have said it better. Caps don't scare me at all.
This team is not going to be content going into the postseason on a losing streak. We will beat Washington on Saturday and win the President's trophy because this team has spent the whole season focusing on the Rangers, not potential playoff matchups. You are not going to see a sub-par effort on Saturday to get an easier draw in the first round.
