I loved having him in Nashville last season, although the amount of penalties he took in the playoffs made my head want to explode.

Meh. Anaheim got rid of him for a reason. Joe DiPenta stuck around for the Cup run, while O'Brien was traded. What does that tell you?

I've thought that he's looked pretty good this season. I think he has some untapped potential to be honest that is becoming more obvious as he gets in better shape and becomes more disciplined. I really hope we re-sign him for next season.

Yeah O'Brien is frustrating. He has the ability to play well and often does but he takes dumb penalties and has brain farts. Hope to see him permanently replaced by Barrie or Elliott next season, they aren't significantly better defensively but at least they're high potential prospects.

CBA issues and rebuilding club is why we haven't spent anything. This offseason though needs some serious cash.

I thought O'Brien was dealt for a first round pick which was going to be used to acquire Jason Blake, but the latter trade was faxed at 5:01 EST so it didn't count. And then the Ducks won the Cup anyways.

Worst defenseman in the league. I have been telling my fellow Avs fans since the beginning of the season but no he is 'good in the lockerroom'. A big I told you so to everyone who tried to convince me that he was a decent defenseman. I didn't like the signing from the beginning in fact I hated the signing and it ruined my summer and it turns out that this signing ruins our season.

We will trade you Aaron Johnson for him. Heck, you can keep SOB, just take A. Johnson.

Sob is a joke. I know Exaclty what you mean. He pinches and goes in deep and makes horrific turn overs.

He is my least favorite player ever.

Shane O'Brain should be able to become a top-4 Dman on a bad team. The problem is that he is dumber than a brick, and also that he thinks he's already good enough to be a top-4 Dman. Such a waste.

He's not good enough to play in the most important game of the season.

I liked him when he was with the Preds last year. He played solidly for us but yes he is guilty of over handling the puck, doing ridiculous spin moves and taking stupid penalties though.

The biggest problem with O'Brien, as has been already stated by Canuck fans, is that he puts himself ahead of the team. All the other players play within the system. O'Brien thinks he is better and can make things happen. He is not better, and needs to learn this. Unfortunately he doesn't seem like he is very smart and probably won't learn it.

Absolutely crushing turnovers in crucial games for the Avs this season. I pray he is not retained.
