Clowe beat Green in a crappy fight and beat Clifford in a pretty good bout.

I didn't mind seeing Doughty get beaten down but I'm surprised nobody on LA has gone after Thornton (unless the board on Couture was the response).

Clowe is one tough guy, so I assumed he won both fights.

I don't think you can really go after Thornton, its a star on star fight, granted Joe is a pretty good fighter.

Joe is a big guy who can handle himself well, and he went after LA's young star defenseman who never fights. Players on the LA bench were visibly pissed but I'm a little surprised nothing came of it. Perhaps that will wait till Saturday.

That stemmed from Doughty telling the media that they wanted to eliminate the Sharks before the playoffs even started. Joe is a better player when emotionally invested, I'm glad Doughy woke him up.

Star on star as others said and Doughty took up Joe's offer to fight. Pretty straight up if you ask me.

Thornton is one of the better fighters in the league.

People forget this.

And they usually pay.

Yeah, "Jumbo" will fight a much smaller player with zero (?) NHL fights. He'll shove Datsyuk after the whistle. That's real toughness, yeah. I miss Eric Lindros.

Jumbo pummeled Doughty.

Was so pumped up after this fight at home, I can only imagine what it did for the team

Good bout.

Shame Doughboy's face didn't get broken.

Were some of you expecting that Doughty would be an even match to Thornton ?

This is his first NHL fight and he picks a guy who is 4 inches taller, some of you act like this a great effort from Thornton. I know Doughty is not the most popular player, but get real. Doughty is just dumb and deserved all those lefts.

Total domination by the Sharks anyway. Kings should take note of this.

Instead of giving props to your player for going with thornton, you are bashing him ? Yes, he should run away from Thornton, like Heatley did from some goon in last Wild brawl.

Joe is tough. Period.

Props ? I feel embarrassed, he cant fight and he could have been hurt just when the playoffs are starting.

Doughty has never fought before and in this topic I only read how great Joe Thornton was. Not a single comment about the fact that we are talking about a non-fighter here. There's even one person who says that Thornton is one of the better fighther in the league. This is Drew Doughty who had 0 NHL fights before this. This has nothing to do with Joe not being tough.

1. You have 2 fists, you are healthy= you are a fighter. Is "non fighter" some kind of PC term for pansy ? 2 nights ago 2 "star players"- one from Wild other from Blackhawks had a business with each other- it ended with 2 goons "fighting" for them. Apriciate your star player has more guts, instead of trying to make him wimp than he is.He doesn't deserve it- not from his own fan
2. Thornton is one of better fighter in league. Shall I repeat ?

What about a broken nose , so you have to play with a full face mask ? and I can name some other things.

I agree that you never back down but there was no problem here. Its not that Thornton really wanted to go. That's the difference. I dont care if Thornton is one of the better fighters in the league but that's not something you say after a fight with Drew 'heavyweight' Doughty. Shall I repeat or do you meanwhile get the point ?

Its a competitive game...this is Joe's first fight in 3 years. His last one was against Getzlaf. California love.

Doughty becomes a victim of that one fatal mistake so many tend to overlook.

What you fail to remember was that Thornton CAN handle heavyweights pre 2004. Lindros broke Thornton's jaw, losing to Lindros isn't bad. He was also able to pound Getzlaf.

I like how Jumbo uses his right hand to keep Doughty up so he can keep punching with his left.

I wouldn't say this was a great fight by Thornton, he just did what he had to do and it worked.

Thornton can handle himself. I don't think Doughty can. That said, props to both on going on what was absolutely a message fight. Kings and Sharks fans alike were just looking at each other high-fiving in the arena after this one!

Thornton didn't have his legs and neither did his team so he took it upon himself to change it. He and Doughty have got at before but this time the gloves dropped and old man strength prevailed!
