One game left
Nashville 102 42 Regulation/Overtime wins
Detroit 101 39 Regulation/Overtime Wins
Chicago 99 38 Regulation/Overtime Wins

Saturday
Nashville at Colorado
Chicago at Detroit

If Chicago wins in regulation, they would tie Detroit in points and in regulation/overtime wins. They would win the season series, 4-2 and take 5th.

Predators Take 4th under the following scenarios
* Nashville wins, in regulation, OT, or shootout.
* If Nashville loses in OT or shootout
• If Nashville loses in regulation, and Detroit loses in a shootout or regulation.

Detroit Takes 4th under the following scenario
• Detroit wins and Nashville loses in regulation.

Detroit Takes 5th under the following scenarios
• Detroit wins in regulation, shootout or overtime.
• Detroit loses in shootout or overtime

Chicago takes 5th and Detroit takes 6th if:
• Chicago wins in regulation

Tie Breakers:
Wins: Most total wins among the tied teams, excluding games won in the shootout.
Head-to-Head Record: Most points in games against each other among the tied teams.
Goal Differential: Using the total goals scored during the regular season, the greater positive differential between goals for and against among the tied teams.

Just beat the Predators and we wouldn't even be talking about this. That's all they had to do.

If we lose against CHI it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world.

I think NAS is stronger than any Pacific team.

I actually want to face SJS 1st round.

If we win than yay we finally beat them
If we lose maybe Holland/Babcock/Lidstrom will be highly motivated to make some big moves.

I want San Jose. Not because I'm afraid of the Preds, but we have a score to settle.

But would gladly take 4th place over that.

I'm gonna be honest, I say we dress the entire Griffins roster and stay the hell out of that 4/5 mess.

Confused by this even if chicago won and detroit lost chitown would have 45 wins and detroit would have 48. Theres no way chicago can overtake detroit.

And if they can i hope they do. Would, much rather pkay la than nashville.

Because if the Hawks beat Wings on Saturday in regulation, both teams would be tied with a ROW of 39 which would go to the next tie breaker which is head to head, in which the Hawks have already won for this season.

Subtract shooutout wins, I guess
6th seed might just get SJ, too.

As long as we don't have to start the series in Nashville.

I liked it better when they were always the obvious underdog.

This situation sucks and I wish the Wings had done better.

But I think anyone calling it "embarrassing" is embarrassing themselves.

There are a lot of good hockey teams in the league. It's hard to win. It's harder to win when you have to play through injuries.

The Wings aren't the protagonists. They're just one team among many. And they still have a chance to win the Cup right up until they lose a 4th game in a series. The fact that other teams have a chance as well is not an embarrassment. That's hyperbole and it's gross.

Cheer for your team but don't take them out back and shoot them just because they're not a clear cut number 1.

With the way the Wings are playing and the way the other teams have been, I don't think it really matters where or who we play in the 1st.

As for 'embarrassing' - some people may want to go back and read the threads when the Wings cruised to the President's trophy and Division Crowns every year. Nothing is certain, especially in this era.

First tie breaker is ROW (wins in regulation and OT). SO wins do not count towards the Tie breaker. So a Hawks win puts teams tied in points and then tied in ROW, then it goes to head to head points which the Hawks would win.

I thought this was a happy birthday to me...jk

It is really sad that if they get 6th that they could actually play SJ in the first round...all they had to do was beat a couple of these playoff teams down the stretch.
