Done and done. At his point, it's not even like anyone argues anything new on the main boards anyways. It's all just, this guy hit this other guy now one of them is dirty / diver. OR List your top ten whatevers. OR This guy is overrated/underrated. The list goes on. There are very few legit discussions on the main boards.
Your stress with the team itself will also be significantly lowered.
In the old days, when your team lost it hurt, but it went away the next day because there was no internet, and no constant coverage and stupid opinions to rehash everything.
Now, even though I should know better at my age, a huge part of my frustration in losing stems from all the nonsense that I can't help myself from reading when I venture on to the main boards.
Basically, the point to this is to become a different and BETTER class of fan.
As a guy who just cannot resist drawing a bead on and unleashing a counterpoint square to the forehead of those spewing the rampant stupidity on the main board, even though I know better and just cannot help it, I am in!
I will really, really try--I love the idea. Especially, as you note, it iwill diminish my own stress to a certainly more appropriate level.

Brilliant, MPF, brilliant.
You're actually THE perfect example.
When they had the "Malkin is dirty" thread for a second time, you kept saying "Yeah, he has a dark side, so what". Most of us admitted he played with an edge, and our only argument was that essentially he was no worse than anyone else.
The reply? "OH, YOUR TEAM IS PERFECT. THE NEVER DO ANYTHING WRONG!!!"
But, to a man, we basically admitted they weren't.
"Oh, Pens fans NEVER say anything bad about their team"
It's useless to even reply, that's why i'm begging you all not to.
No, no, no. The playoff board is one of my favorites. I'm just hoping people report posts instead of take it upon themselves to "fight back." Remember, this is the internet. Nobody wins anything for winning a flame war. The report post feature, ignore user, and ignore thread tools can all come into play w/ those boards.
That's all.
No offense. I think you both are spot on. What I am about to say also does not apply to most of the usual posters on here. We get in influx of Pens fans on here this time of year and I can't stand the knee jerk reactions over every bad play and game. The only way I can enjoy HFboards is if I argue with the haters. Where does that leave me?

I'd like to concur with the OP and MTL. It makes it a lot easier for us moderators to keep things clean if people refrain from trolling/responding on other boards. The Pens - Flyers matchup is going to be a head ache enough as it is, so we hope that people will be sensible and just report attempts to get responses from Pittsburgh fans. Be the better fan.
I admit, I'm probably one of the worst offenders as far as going to the mainboard and engaging the trolls. Sometimes it's just too much fun to pass up picking apart their dimwitted nonsense. The problem is, they're usually not bright enough to even realize they've been proven wrong or that they're making fools of themselves, so there's no point in the end. I agree completely with MtlPenFan. Let's just let them destroy each other over there and stay out of it.
It's actually been pretty enjoyable to read some of the threads today about Torts vs Crosby on the main boards (all have been locked or removed) and not see any Pens fans replying.

The mods have been doing a good job at the main boards today, imo. People just can't discuss this topic in anything approaching a civil manner there.

Us moderators are going to be on high alert over the next few months, we're not taking any crap this year. Not that I was a moderator last year but I'm sure you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.
I saw a thread AND refrained. I'm so proud of myself at the moment.
I tried to find intelligent life on the main boards, started a conversation. It really was a futile effort. People there only want to congratulate themselves on how much they hate the Penguins and Pens' fans. Actually having a respectful discussion about the games is the last thing on their minds. I know that there are some good posters from every city, but the hatred has total erased any intelligence at all from that entire fan base from what I am reading. If that is an example of what to expect why anyone would bother with them, or those threads, is beyond me. You can feel the brain cells slowly die talking there.
I propose we pick one poster here to represent "the others" for each game day thread. Going cold turkey from dealing with those nozzle jockeys might be a little rough...gotta ease into it.
