Cam Atkinson With the Hat-Trick

Put in the empty netter against Colorado for the hat-trick. We have high hopes for the kid here in Jacket land.

I for one am super happy for him and the Jackets.

I am also happy the Flames came back and won, cause now that pick is #11.

Columbus beat Colorado twice in Colorado after the trade deadline. Also, Phoenix 2 out of 3, LA, St. Louis, and Florida.

The Rangers fans were praising Chris Kreider like he's next Rick Nash. But this year Kreider scored in BC 22 goals in 42 games. In his last year in BC Atkinson had 31 goal in 39 games.
Also he led the AHL in goals this season before was called up, for now he learns how to score at the highest level and he's doing a decent job, you could tell he progresses with every game. Speed and nice hands are there.

I thought Atkinson was one of the best Columbus players when they played against Vancouver. I see a bright future for the kid.

I'm only 5"10 so I always like seeing the smaller players get it done. Congrat to Cam hope he earns an NHL spot next year

At least try to substantiate it.... Look like an uneducated homer otherwise...though I'd agree. Performance at the WJC's, and big time performances in big spots in college are what draw me to Kreider. He has an NHL body and an NHL brain... Atkinson wasn't NEARLY as smart of a hockey player coming out of school than Kreider IMO.

I find this statement weird Kreider doesn't seem to have much more than average hockey sense... that might even be pushing it

He's not the brightest player ever, but I think his on ice smarts are fine - and better than Atkinson, no? I don't mean to take away from cam in this thread, either....real happy for him

All three goals were really slick, even the empty netter.

I'd be surprised if he was actually 5'10 too. He definitely looks smaller than that, but he also plays bigger than that.

Isn't he 5'8? Similar to Gerbe in that he was a BC-product, late round pick, on the diminutive side of the hockey body spectrum - Atkinson slotted literally 15 picks after where Gerbe went, only three drafts later. Both play bigger than they are, though Gerbe is generously listed at 5'5....
