Blaming Gagner for this? Some fans just don't get it.
If Whitney had played that properly, he would've kept the puck in and there likely would have been another scoring chance.
Players aren't always going to hit the net. And big deal if Gagner (or Smyth) misses the net with some regularity...though I think it's being blown out of proportion here. This team struggles on offense because they don't get enough shots to the net. The last thing I want them to do is shoot less or be choosier about the few shots they do take. Sure, he can work to improve his accuracy, but at the end of the day, I want him taking that shot every time, even if it means he'll miss it sometimes.
The odds of beating Vancouver on saturday night are pretty low, fairly good bet that we clinch 29th place.
No offense, but I hate posts like these, anything can happen in pro sports and the Canucks might just not give a **** and lose or Dubnyk stands on his head, etc. I hope that Montreal gets a point on Saturday then what we do/don't do is of no consequence.

What else should the Oilers do in the summer to improve outside of drafting Grigs and moving Gagner?
I'm pissed about Gagner's season (outside of his torrid week) but Grigorenko won't replace Gagner's 47 points next year. Not on this team. And I'm willing to make an avatar bet on it.
IIRC, Gagner got most of those points after a slew of injuries gave him 1st line minutes and 1st unit PP.
You obvious have never played Hockey at any pro level, Hockey 101 object of the game is to score obtained by shooting , sometimes shots go wide by trying to pick a corner, Blaming Gagner is just pathetic.
I think it's more pathetic that Gagner supporters never blame him for anything.
Gagner needs to get that shot on net PERIOD, he was open enough and he misses the net an awful lot. For a guy with his skillset, he should be better than that.
It wasn't all Gagner's fault, Whitney should have covered the point better.

Troll post? Hockey 101 is when you are on a rush like that you can't miss far side or you're ****ed.

He didn't say the Oilers will lose, he said the chances of winning are low which they are. If St. Louis wins 1 of their final 2 games, Vancouver will go all out to try and win.
How are the Oilers 18th in GF, 22nd in GA, 2nd in PP%, 14th in PK% and yet 29th in points? Why are those stats so much better than our record?
Elite talents are shining amongst the muck. If Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins and Hall aren't registering multi-point games then we lose. Like clockwork. Our veteran fowards suck and our defencemen have scored a putrid 21 goals and Smid leads with 5.

none taken A coin toss is a fairly good chance as well.
Personally I don't care if we finish 29th or 28th at this stage, just glad that the pain will stop for a few months.

This isn't a recipe for success.
The D is getting better, it seems like our GA has dropped a lot since Schultz got here. If we could add another solid veteran defender we might even be (gulp) decent.
Offensively we're a one line team. That's missing the top line LW.

And he's still not likely to get 50. Ugh. And this is from a Gagner supporter.
There's no doubt that Grigs would get some decent ice-time on a team like this thats desperate for productive talent but two-way talents like him tend to take a little while to develop.

Err ... Grigorenko is a pretty straight forward offensive-forward.
Now he may be working on the defensive side of his game, but he is definitely first and foremost an offensive player (ie: Jason Spezza).

And Gagner haters blame him for everything scoring a goal he gets blamed for not passing to Hopkins yup read it here Also I like Gagner and lately he has been playing the ***** but watching these posters usual suspects blaming him on that goal where whitney was asleep pathetic as it comes. And everyone im here can predict on any given gdt or pgt which posters are going to rag on him regardless same players all the time or as Bob M would say ass clowns.
I'll take the friendly wager should be draft, Grigs, Boco.

So, yeah this is fairly predictable.
Fairly predicable based on the way the season has unfolded and immensely disappointing. Horcoff, and Belanger should be providing more. They're not 38, 39 year old hockey players on their last legs.
