Believe it or not, I think our chances are pretty good in this one. Like the series vs the ducks, I think they have higher end gamebreakers, but our depth is the best it's ever been, and I think goaltending will be the difference.
Hopefully Pekka doesn't need a round to get himself straight, like last season
At least we don't have SOB to take costly penalties and guarantee GA, this go round.
What is this...positive outlook from BTNeck? Eeyore got his tail back me thinks.
This will be just like the second San Jose series. We have a good team but end up playing one of the stronger teams in the playoffs. Sounds like another first round exit. Detroit just knows how to win and are getting their guys back rested.
Resting their way to a 4-4-1 record at home in March and April? A 6-9-3 record since March 1?
we will never be anything until we go through them. and they will never truely respect us until we beat them. we must take it from their cold dead fingers.
Congrats to the Preds for the 4th seed and home ice in the first round. Rinne has to outplay Howard. Weber and Suter has to be the best defensemen on the ice. Detroit will be like Luca Brazi they'll come after us with everything they've got. It's going to be a battle.

haha, setting yourself up for defeat. i see how it is.
so the POs coverage this year should be miles ahead of years past since we now have NBC, NBCnet, and NHLnet.
I'm taking target ideas for the playoffs. ThirdManIn and I came up with a few, but I'm open to suggestions. Probably going tomorrow or Monday to make a few.

I think you're looking for the negative thread. There is absolutely NOTHING negative about finishing in 4th seed after our terrible start to the season. This should be an all positive thread with good mojo. I'm not scared of the Wings one damn bit and you shouldn't be either.
Any guesses on who will kick it into "Playoff" gear this year and who will coast along in regular season mode?
My guesses...
Playoff Performers
Legwand
Erat
Tootoo
Weber
Gill
Regular Season coasting
Sergei
Klein
The interesting question guys for me will be Andrei, Gaustad and Suter. The first two for obvious reasons that having them kick it up a notch would be HUGE for this team. Suter because it seems like he's been coasting for a while, he's shown he can step up when it matters (Olympics), so what is his attitude/mindset going into the playoffs this season? Does he give it his all and be the world-class leading defenseman he can be or is he looking past the season and his big payday?
I couldn't ask for a better test for our first round match-up with Detroit. From someone who lived in Michigan for 7 years growing up and followed with Wings, nothing would be sweeter to me than beating them. Beating Detroit could really give confidence to our guys and propel us all the way to the Cup. It will be a huge test, but one I think the Preds are more than ready for. Right now, I think Preds in 6.
I'm thinking NBC Sports will want us to play Wednesday/Friday/Sunday/Tuesday in games 1-4 in order to have in Detroit in Friday night and Sunday afternoon games.
