When was the last time a team drafted 5 of their top prospects in one draft?
Just realized this while debating something on the Wild board; five of Minnesota's top 10 prospects came from one draft. Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund, Johan Larsson, Brett Bulmer and Jason Zucker came from the 2010 draft (not to mention, San Jose got Freddie Mitchell and Minnesota picked up Jonas Gustafsson in the 6th round).
I know Colorado had similar aspirations in 1999 was it?
Just kind of curious because I always forget that Coyle was drafted in 2010 with Granlund and the rest.

Its a nice crop on paper, hopefully they can perform on the big stage.
If we go by the team drafting the players themselves, Colorado drafted Duchene, O'Reilly, Elliott and Barrie in the 2009 draft. Not 5 of them, but 4 top prospects/players.
If you go by players that were drafted in a certain draft by other teams too, then Colorado has McGinn, Mueller, Johnson, and Varlamov from the 2006 draft too.
Not sure if any team has had 5 though, although I'd assume there has been some others.

Outside of Minnesota, this has to be as close as any team comes.
With mixed results, the Capitals definitely had 5, maybe even 6 of their top-10 from the 2006 draft at certain points.
Backstrom
Varlamov
Neuvirth
Bouchard
K. Seabrook
Osala
Perreault
At one point, Varlamov, Neuvirth, Bouchard, Osala, and Perreault were definitely all in the top-10 while the Caps were considered to have one of the best prospect pools in the league.
Also, while the current crop isn't what it was 2-3 years ago, the Caps' actually currently have 5 of their top 8 prospects (according to HF) from the 2009 draft: Kuznetsov, Orlov, Eakin, Wey, and Flemming.
it's not 5 but you could make a solid argument that 4 of the Wings top 10 prospects are from the 2010 draft(Jarnkrok,Sheahan,Mrazek,Pulkkinen) or a solid argument that 4 are from the 2011 draft(Jurco,Ouellet,Tvrdon,Sproul)
St. Louis Blues 2007 1-13 Lars Eller* 1-14 Kevin Shattenkirk
1-18 Ian Cole
1-26 David Perron 2-44 Aaron Palushaj**
3-85 Brett Sonne
4-96 Cade Fairchild
Traded Away
* As part of deal for Jaroslav Halak
** Traded for Matt D'Agostini

Id say the closest thing Boston has had to this recently was getting Seguin Knight and Spooner all in one draft
Considering Boston's prospect pool is pretty weak, this is a pretty decent amount of good prospects. Just about our only other decent looking prospects are Khoklachev and Hamilton from last year
