What are the prospects of Vladimir Tarasenko, yesterday's youth team captain? He worried for a place in the composition.
- Properly agitated. Yes, he is a capable guy. But the World Cup - is a completely different level. You have to understand this is not a youth tournament and not KHL. Here, play the best players in the world. So he should fight for a place in the composition.
So you are basing the statement that Kuznetsov showed grit and determination on the fact that Bilyaletdinov picked him?
This has probably been beaten to death but I couldn't find it in the most recent few pages of the thread...
Why isn't Nail Yakupov on the Russian team? I understand that he's still a teenager and this is a man's tournament that is taken very seriously in Russia but what's the reasoning behind this? Not good enough yet? Canada has let Toews and now Ryan Murray play before they were pro's and Murray is ranked lower and playing a much tougher position than what they'd be asking of Yakupov. Any insight would be appreciated.

- Bilyaletdinov is a bit conservative and won't invite a player he's never seen on his team (see: Mikhail Anisin).
- Yakupov had an injury not long ago, didn't he?
- Didn't he also perform below expectations in playoffs?
- Russia has a very strong set of RWs this time: Shirokov, Zherdev, Tarasenko and Perezhogin all had strong seasons, Ketov impressed in EuroTour. Reasoning for Popov isn't as obvious, but still there are 4-5 RWs that may be ahead of Nail for now. Also, I doubt he'd made a good bottom 6er.

Come on Yakupov is yet to play hockey at an adult level and he should make the Russian NT?

Hopefully all our forwards will make the next round, so the guys who were cut can have their chance.
Well at least we can agree that Bill doesn't put players on roster for name.
Now the team have 12 Forwards, that means we will se no Tarasenko, Shipachyov or Burmistrov @ this tourney.
i guess Bilya feels like this team doesn't need to score more goals.
(and yes i know those 2 were on the team when it was not scoring, but at least Tarasenko can finish when someone else creates, and now Malkin&Datsyuk have been added..)
Any chance that Ovetjkin and/or Semin joins the team if Caps lose tonight against Rangers? I've got tickets for your game against the Czechs on sunday, very pleased

If they lose- very probable.
Bryzgalov will not join, he gets a "respect" call- which means that they acknowledge him as a candidate and somebody they would take (earlier), but they will not invite him to THIS tournament, since they are happy with the set up they have now.

Would have been cool to see Tarasenko alongside Datsyuk, but I imagine everyone would like to see(your guys name here) next to Datsyuk. Hopefully I get the opportunity to see Tarasenko play in person in training camp.
makes no sense, he did play over 20 minutes his last game in Nashville, he should have exposed his talent for a contract in the NHL.
If Radulov wants to make a lot of money, he will sign in the KHL. If he wants to play in the NHL, it doesn't really matter what he does in the World Championships.
