Essentially mimics Milbury`s words, difference between the two, Torts has the stones to not budge from his opinions to make an apology afterwards (although, something inside me NBC told MM to do it) anyone with integrity to stand behind what they said woulda told em to stuff it

I can't stand Torts' self absorbed crap, but I definitely agree with his rant this time.

Crosby whines more than Lemieux did and gets away with just as much crap as he did. Being extremely talented shouldn't get you a free ******-bag pass. Sid the skid IS a punk, and Malkin can be just as bad sometimes. The way Crosby mouths off on the ice, you'd think he was Jody Shelley...it's something you come to expect from Marchand - being that it's his role - not an elite franchise cornerstone who has been struggling to stay healthy for 2 years.

And while we're on the subject, how about this holier than thou **** he preached the whole time he was gone about dirty hits and cleaning up the game - and then he goes out and does whatever he wants. The Pens' heroic philosophy "keep it clean...against us"

The worst part is that whining gets you places in the NHL. You get the calls, you get the PP's, you get what you want.

I don't blame Milbury for apologizing. I wish he didn't, but I don't blame him. He 100% got told that he had to, I can almost guarantee that.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out now that a coach is saying it. It's not like complaining about officials, or disclipline, or the league....can coaches be fined for *****ing about players?

Torts speaks the truth just as Mike did. The pens are the worst thing about hockey today. Whining crying stars that are just as much cheapshot artists as anybody in the league. The likely pick by the NHL for the masterson trophy, career ender cooke and a whiney owner "super" Wario.

All I can say is Go Flyers!!

I put my thoughts in the out of town thread, but since it's here now I'm just gonna copy it in:

I hate the Penguins as much as the next guy, but I tend to paint most knee hits with the same "instincts" brush. I'm no mind reader, but it really doesn't make sense to me for Orpik to go knee missile, else he runs the risk of ending his own career as well. I feel that most times it's just a bang bang play and instincts kick in to stop the guy from blowing by you. I'm not saying it's ok, but that's how I rationalize with the guy making the "hit."

What they should do is just give any knee on knee hits the same suspension, 2 or 3 games.

For me it's hard to say decisively one way or another on the Orpik hit....Reactionary or malicious?

Still it's the third straight game that the Penguins have had a knee on knee hit.

Preach Torts, preach!

****ing can't stand that pathetic organization. Ranks 3rd on my Hate List right behind Montreal and Vancouver. I hope Philly waxes them and does so in style.

The Pens are smug/arrogant/whiney, from the top-down. That includes their broadcasters too.

The Penguins whine even when they win. They're like the Vancouver of the EC, but not quite as bad.

Torts whines and *****es just because. Personally, I can't stand him and his antics, but he's right on the money here.

Yea I'll be cheering for the Flyers and not just because it would be better for the Bruins if the Penguins lost.

These Flyers are much different than the John Stevens teams....Only thing I have to complain about is Hartnell and Sestito's hit on Horton and it wasn't even that bad of a hit.

On the other hand we have the legendary knee on knee and cheapshotter Cooke.

I still don't give the Flyers much of a chance though. I don't really see anyone beating the Penguins over a 7 game series...Their best players are just too good.

Tortorella played with and was best friends (wedding party) with some of my buds growing up and to a man (and even girl) has super things to say about him away from the ice; One is still very close to him and may be at the Rags playoffs games via Tortorella and says you will have to travel far and wide to find as good a friend as he.

He was bang on about those whiney Penguins, and I'm still irked Milbury had to apologize for telling the truth. I hope the Flyers send them packing for the summer and if not they knock the snot out of them.

Penguins wont be so cocky once Crosby gets knocked out of the NHL and they lose all their fans and resort to tanking for a third time

I peeked in Milbury's diary he wrote ''I am the next Don Cherry'' in a few pages.

We already knew that didn't we?

I'm sure he's a great guy off the ice. My eyes got extremely watery during the 24/7 segment when they brought up the rangers fan (the kid with a disability) and how torts would personally call him to see how he was doing. I think a lot of the yelling and screaming he does is just for show. I find almost every interview with him extrememly awkward to watch.

I do like that he speaks his mind though. Can never have too much of that.

One of my buddies who I played baseball with in college's stepfather (I believe) was roommates with Tortorella at Maine. Said they're still close and he's a great guy.
