He's donated what? $40,000 to the league this year?

Torts is single handedly helping the NHL avoid a future lockout.

Wait. So if Alain can say what he said about Marchand and not get fined... How is this really any different?

**** the ****ing ****sburgh Crosbys. **** 'em.

That organization is a disgrace to the league. Love how Crosby gets so holier-than-thou in interviews like this. Slamming Callahan is pure class you ****ing baby.

I've gotta say, this whole thing is pretty hilarious. Like him or hate him, Torts said what everyone has been thinking for awhile now.

Knee on knee hits are fine, as long as you don't freak out about them to the media afterwards.

As a Rangers fan--someone saying **** about Callahan--is ****ed. Ryan plays the game the game the way it was meant to be played. All out 100% effort. Hitting everything that moves but never anything dirty. Blocking shots. He'll never be a big star but you can depend on him in all situations. He comes up big when the team needs him. Whines?--I don't know. I never noticed it. I have with Sid. Maybe I'm biased.

I agree with pretty much everything MM and Tort said, but why are the Penguins fans taking it like someone insulted their grandmothers cookies. Penguins fans could never be Bruins fans and certainly not Boston sports fans. Way to sensitive. Quite a few folks dispise our football team, even our baseball team, and many characters on this present Bruins team (my favorite alltime thread was Canadiens fans listing their five most hated Bruins last year and having trouble narrowing it down and wanting to expand it)...so a lot of people think the Pens are whiney and entitled. Ummm, yah. that doesn't make them bad people, and really, who would you rather watch Pittsburgh or just about anyone else....I'll take them.

Stop worrying about approval rating Pens fans and can we find a station where Milbury can have a show called 'Mike Milbury Unplugged'....it would be outstanding and he could have Cherry's sidekick for balance and a 'third man in, each week to steal WEEI's idea.'

Guilt. If you have a clear conscience, stuff like that doesn't bother you.

On the contrary, I think this is all hilarious. People do many things out of fear.

Love Torts. We need more coaches who don't have a filter. Being fined for speaking his mind. Ridiculous.

It's one thing to fine Torts for inflamatory commetns, its another not to suspend Orphik for that cheap and cowardly hit. Uncle Gary indeed strikes again.....Can't take a chance on hindering those high-powered Penguins, can we Gary? They are a model franchise with the best of everything.............................

McQuaid was not suspended for a knee on knee hit where he stuck his leg out on Foligno earlier this season. No difference.

Lots of whining here.

McQuaid should have gotten a game or two and Orphik at least that. Though I grant you a hatred for the Pens is growing......They really do have Bettman and the league on their side if that was not worthy of suspension......I hope the Rangers or Flyers roll them..not much chance of it but I can hope.

Agree with everything Torts said....Crosby is a whining punk. what he got was karma and if he keeps sticking his whining face where it does not belong he will get it again.

That said, it's going to take a monumental goaltending performance from someone to beat the Penguins, who are a good team AND the officials who are CLEARLY on their side.

Fixed your quote slightly.

Callahan is one of my favorite non-Bruins in the league. Guy is ****ing golden.

Also... I love Tortorella. I think he's a great coach. I dig almost that entire Rangers team. I'll be cheering for them if the Bs go down.

The only discipline the league handed out in this case was to the coach's comments. ****ing typical god damn horsepiss. Torts is 100% right with his comments... and the NHL is 100% wrong in who they decided to punish. Absolutely infuriating.

I'm a big Crosby FAN... But that team can go **** itself. I hope they're swept.

If the Flyers don't beat them it's going to be a 7 game blood bath and whoever comes out of it could get bounced in round 2 just from the weariness of the series they just finished. I don't think the Flyers have the goaltending though. The only teams in the East that can beat the Penguins are the Rangers and Bruins because of goaltending.

So, the league was consistent in not suspending Orpik, it had nothing to do with favouring the Penguins.

Right or wrong (and IMO he's right this time), but Tortorella is the biggest whiner in the league IMO.

He lost all credibility with me when he claimed the league fixed the Winter Classic. He's not going to sound so entertaining when/if the B's play the Rangers and he's complaining about our boys/style of play.

We will see how much everyone here likes Callahan and 'Torts' if Callahan ever lays out a Bruin like this.

No, there's a difference. Not all knee-on-knee hits are the same. Some are reflexive, like McQuaid's. Some are deliberate attempts to injure. And Orpik's sure as hell looked like the latter.
