I don't like the idea of heading into game 1 with a weeks of rust on our best players. Everyone's seen this team under perform after long lay offs.

So you play them for a period or two. Even Fleury, I would bring Johnson in for the last two periods. Treat it like a preseason game.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. Maybe just keeping their minutes around 12-15 & letting young guys like Jeffrey, Tangradi, & Straight get some time in.

If theres one person i don't want playing, it's Letang. Call up Depres again. Let Tanger sit. We shall see, i guess.

This game is gonna turn into a epic circus, neither team has nothing to lose, nothing to win.

But you can use it as an excuse if Bryzgalov continues to show he isn't a NHL playoff goalie.

I don't think Sid or Tanger should play. Geno will play. He wants 50 really bad.

Which is why I don't get why both teams just wouldn't lay off. It would make more sense. Instead your going to get a bunch Flyers trying to crush Sid's head in & then one of our guys going back at them.

Bylsma said Friday he was going to dress a “vanilla” lineup which indicates he is resting some of his top players. You would assume Sidney Crosby would be one of them, along with defenseman Kris Letang.

Not really sure if you want anyone to sit unless they are nursing some kind of injury. One thing I would consider is calling up Despres to play. With Lovejoy and Niskanen nursing injuries, we are only one more injury away from him playing full time. I'd rather him be ready for the style of play. Yes, it's only one game but it's better than none.

Despres should be playing ahead of Lovejoy anyway.

I would be disappointed if Geno doesn't play. I'm hoping against hope that he gets 50 and 60. That would be bad ass.

Geno needs 50. Sid can't babied. Dress the goons and go. Philly's comments by their coaching staff show they will show no respect to the best players in the league, but no reason to hide them. Play them carefully, and with home ice, we should be able to get the match-ups.

Well, aside from Giroux, who else do the Flyers have that would be considered anywhere near the level of Sid, Geno, or Letang? I doubt Jagr plays. Hartnell can handle the rough stuff. I think the Pens would have more to lose if the game gets nasty. Sit all of them. Play Tangradi, Jeffrey. Call up Big Mac if Shelly dresses. Play Fleury for a period. Then just try getting through the game best as possible.

Exactly.

All we've heard lately is "our stars are babies" or "our stars and whiners" and blah blah blah. If we sit them out tomorrow, I'm willing to bet we'll be called cowards next.

I mean it'll be just as rough and nasty in the playoffs next week...if not more so. So why not dress them tomorrow and let Geno try for 50.

In 6 months barely anybody will remember Lavy/Berube etc. whining. But everyone will always remember that Geno is a proven 50 goal scorer if he hits that mark tomorrow. I mean why should he be denied his chance tomorrow at this significant career milestone just because those babies in Philly might pull a fit and do something stupid? It's not fair to us as fans and especially to him as a player for him to be potentially robbed of that chance IMO.

Malkin and Crosby should sit out. I know that Malkin getting that #50 would be sweet but it's not really that important is it?

If it is and he wants to play, play him early on and let him get an early goal so that we can then quickly bench him and keep him fresh for the play-offs. It'd be just our luck that we get a serious injury to one of our star players in the last game day of the season.

Big Mac's job would pretty much be to beat anyone who looked at Sid or Geno wrong.

I'm still calling Malkin a 50 goal scorer, even if he only gets 49. Who cares if it's not 50 exactly? 1 less does not mean **** IMO. It's like saying Staal is not a 50 point player because twice he hit 49 points. All that matters is 1 point? i don't think so....Staal has 48 right now.

he'd get at least 20 points just from the puck bouncing off of him over the course of a season.
