The Stars have subtracted a total of 371 PIMs from last season's team. (Ott, Souray, Burish, Ribeiro)

That's over 6 games worth of someone sitting in the box.

Hey guys!

Sorry I've been absent for the past few months. I've been on sabbatical teaching deaf children to read overseas.

I can't wait to sift through the pages and read about how you simultaneously think we got hosed in the Ott and Ribeiro trades and then trash Ott and Ribeiro's value in the next sentence. At least that's what I'm predicting I'll find.

I swear, it's like Joe is going item by item down my list of things I wanted accomplished this season.

Dump Ribeiro - check
Dump Ott - check
Add offense - check
Dump Morrow - pending
Dump Fistric - pending
Dump Robidas - pending
Add defense - pending
Dump Pardy - check

That one doesn't need to be on the checklist. It'll take care of itself when Benn holds out.

General consensus on a deflated Preds board is that they should deal Weber.

I wonder what it'd cost us to nab him.....

Oleksiak (Number one prospect), John Klingberg (Weaker but high potential defense prospect), Chiasson (NHL ready prospect), 2013 1st Rounder, 2014 1st Rounder.

Which would be a tonne. Too much probably.

I'd say:

Larsen/Oleksiak + Chiasson/R. Smith/Fraser + Glennie + 2013 1st.

Sell the farm. Is it worth it for a top 3 defender in the world, though?

There's also making sure he stays. No way I do that if he stays for just one year.

Given that this is the defense production machine known as the Nashville Predators I kind of doubt they are looking for defense prospects. I could be wrong but I think they'd be after at least two of Chiasson/R. Smith/Fraser/Stransky and who knows what beyond that.

If in this sort of situation our management got to talk to Weber before making the trade to guage his interest in re-signing I'd be all for it. You have to give to get and Weber is a very special player.

Random Alert:

Does anybody have a picture of Morrow donning the 45 and Robidas the 17?

I was able to track down a Daley 5 but no dice on the others.

Considering they'd be losing both Suter and Weber, they welcome any NHL ready help they can get.

Oh absolutely. That's a given if you're interested in him.

They have guys in house who are as or more proven than Larsen.

It makes way too much sense to trade for Bouwmeester for the Stars not to kick the tires on it. It sounds like Calgary is willing to give him up for peanuts given their situation and Dallas doesn't need to worry about that contract which expires at the end of the 2013-14 season.

If they can get this done without including one of their top end prospects I think Nieuwendyk has to pull the trigger.

**and yes I would prefer Bouwmeester to Weber given the contract that Weber will demand as a UFA and the relative cost of trading for each.

Was really hard to find Morrow wearing 45, but I got it

For the best defenceman in the game in the prime of his career, if they could lock him up long term, I'd even be on board with that.

Don't bother dreaming about Weber.

He's going to do the same thing Suter did. Be a huge drama queen about the whole process then bolt home to his home area team for a truckload of cash that needs the help.

Vancouver, welcome Mr. Weber and his $120 million dollar deal.

I would be interested if it didn't cost Dallas very much, but I think Calgary will be asking too high of a price. Calgary doesn't have to trade Bouwmeester. They refuse to believe that they need a rebuild and will probably want an over payment for a roster player that they view as vital to their success. You also have to think that the teams that missed out on Suter will inquire about Bouwmeester which will inflate the cost.

Who were Ribeiro's main wingers last season?

There are some members on our board who believe he can do well with no scorers and grinders like Brouwer and Laich on his wing.

Eriksson and Ryder. This was the Stars' most successful line.

2nd most was Morrow and Ott, who are grinders.
