Me too. I actually like Rhads. I can't stand the Channel 21 crap with Gina and Sevvy. Sevryn is a freaking tool.

He's a pretty cool guy in person.

Speaking of 21/FSN, doesn't our TV deal end soon or am I thinking about a couple years ago? Seem to remember hearing it ended in 2013 when the Rangers broke off from us etc but I could way off on that.

This article says 2014, but it has some obvious flaws.

Claims the Rangers and Stars have to pursue joint TV deals despite both teams being up for sale separately. That obviously didn't happen.

It's says both teams' deals with TV end in 2014 ... but Rangers signed a brand new deal right after being sold didn't they?

Hate to disagree with you, but he used to skate with my team in practice quite often. I think one of my coaches was friends with him. This was back in 05-06. He probably wasn't going all out in scrimmages, but he got owned every time. There is no way he was just being easy. I've actually been slashed by him (once again, probably not a full effort). This was when I was 17-18.

I've randomly ran into him at the AAC and at random Stars Centers since then and he's been really outgoing and nice to me. He's changed over the past few years.

All of them are bad choices. My problem with Rhadigan is he doesn't talk smoothly and it's hard to listen to.

not a fan of ludwig's on-air performance either, but turco is certainly no guarantee to be any good either. ludwig has tons of personality that doesn't show up on the tv screen (thinking about the "bad radio" interview and downing a whole bunch of beers w/o a bathroom visit on some team plane flight... or something like that). and his analysis never gave me that "wow, that's a great insight" feeling either.

ultimately, these local guys never seem to be any good (in my experience anyway). just feel lucky enough to have ralph and razor calling our games.

for what it's worth, i like severyn. would really like to see him sub in for razor when nbc (and others) folks take razor away from us. he was great as a ducks radio analyst back in the day.

Severyn really seemed to enjoy it when he got the chance, as well.

This was done months ago, but it's worth mentioning the new faceoff rule again. With the season starting next Saturday.

Quote:
Rule 76.4: Both players facing-off are prohibited from batting the puck with their hand in an attempt to win the face-off. Any attempt by either center to win the face-off by batting the puck with their hand shall result in a minor penalty. This penalty shall be announced as a minor penalty for delay of game. Once the face-off is deemed complete, and the winner of the face-off is clear, hand passes shall be enforced as per Rule 79.

Wasn't the major difference in Europe though something about not being permitted to use your feet?

Yes. That is why Wandell has a decent draw % there. If I remember correctly, you can only use your stick. So all tying up and other shenanigans are eliminated.

GUYS.
Guys.
The goal song.
We can't... we just can't.

Here are my last minute submissions.

Intro video:

A video done in the same style with the same song would be brilliant, IMO.
Slow motion; slow motion everywhere.

Entrance song:

Can't beat Puck Off.

Goal song:

I seriously can't remember what our goal song sounds like. Wow. Not that I want to, but...

edit: Oh God, I just listened to it again. With all the other changes in the works that's got to go too, right? What were they thinking.

Picking a new goal song is such a difficult task. When you think about the parameters that are needed you start to realize why there are so few in circulation and why many teams use the same ones.

Ideally you need something that starts off with percussion only that can play while the horn is still going. No melody is going to be able to cut through that thing.

Pretty much anything with lyrics is a no-go, yet you need a place for the crowd to interject some kind of vocalization.

The current song fails because that melody is too long/complex to expect the crowd to actually follow it, even setting aside how hokey and cloying it sounds. The thing it's copying (the Fratellis/Blackhawks song) is just simple enough for people to get into.

It's also really tough to dip into the past without looking outdated.

i've been a firm believer that the stars should just use the pantera song as the goal horn.

starts with percussion. the fans know it. it's unique. it's fast and heavy. it's interactive.

easy. peasey. lemon-squeezy.

As long as the Stars stop lining Gary Glitter's pockets, I'm cool with any song they use.

Yeah, as if we needed more reasons for refs to continuously blow the play dead and keep everyone standing around longer.

They changed it in the first place because the world found out the guy who made was attracted to kids.

I'd like it if they didn't choose a song 5 other teams use.

That happened 5 or 6 years before they changed. If they changed right out of the lock out, I could see them using that as a reason. But I have a hard time believing that was the reason they actually changed now. Especially considering they have tried changing during the pre-season before and then gone back to the song.

I may be in the minority, but I wasn't aware of the accusations until around the time Dallas changed the song.

I'm not exactly dialed in to celebrity gossip, but I don't remember any coverage of this. Was it bigger news in Europe? Maybe Dallas was also late to the party on the information.

EDIT: Hell ... even right now I have no idea what he's accused of. I just realized all I know is someone mentioned that Gary Glitter likes children in the inappropriate sense.

I don't want to prentend to know or care about that guy's situation, but I believe they caught him again last year.

Holy S. It's actually worse than I thought: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...glam-days.html

It is ridiculous that this monster is still on the streets.
