Anyways, this offseason is Feasters evaluation. Lets see what he can do.
@Calculon. Ever since Sutter was let go, Flames fans have been more "hostile" (well, maybe not hostile) towards Feaster because we don't want to be in the same mess as we were before with D.Sutter. (mind you, we are still a mess because of Dutter)
people were trashing him and saying he would ruin the team before he was ever named GM
I disagreed. Goal was to make the playoff, and they didnt and the Flames are still stuck with an old core.
I know you just like to troll so I don't know why I bother, but Feaster's hands are tied when it comes to the core. Ownership has a mandate about trying to push for the playoffs, why this is so hard for people like you to understand is bewildering.

I think it's bewildering that it's not a failure if your mandate from your boss is to make the playoff and you didnt.
It was very clear, objective was to make the playoff, they didnt so Feaster failed. What's so hard to understand.
Stating the fact is not trolling btw.

the mandate is COMPETE for the playoffs, which the Flames did.
And your post history tells the true story, while occasionally what you say may be true, 9 out of 10 times its a manipulated truth to try and make the franchise look worse than they really are

Feaster may not have got this team to the playoffs but he was given a team that did not make the playoffs a one year turn around while only swapping out Regehr would not have been likely.
Brent Sutter has been a great coach for this organization imo. He hasn't had what he needs to make the playoffs in term of players. I can't entirely blame Jay Feaster for that as he was handed a tough set of contracts but he has tried to bring in some younger players and change up the team as much as he could. Getting rid of Bourque was a good trade. You can criticize the Kotalik deal as much as you want but in the end we got rid of him and that was important tot management as well as the teams generalized interests. I think we need to stay status quo and stay moderately competitive but still put emphasis on younger players and picks and not selling out the future in trades. Feaster has been handed a pile of **** and has slowly shoveld some of it away (think Obama/Bush). Give him a least one more year but make sure there is an emphasis on younger players and picks. Trade Kipper if the price is right. Same goes for everyone else. Resign Jokinen and try to bring in another top 6 centre.
It's tough to judge Feaster. The day before the trade deadline he blows up, says there will be changes and guys will get traded. Then, the day after the deadline he says that they were buyers, had deals on the table, and the other teams backed out.

It's sad if our goal is to only make the playoffs. more than half the teams each season make the playoffs.
I wouldn't lay the blame only on mgmt, as ownership has to provide the direction that they are willing to forgo playoff revenue $'s for a couple of seasons (which we've done anyways) to rebuild the right way.

Even more sad if our teams mandate is to only compete to qualify for the playoffs.
lets face it our team has been int he bottom half of the league for 3 years now. statistics don't lie.
I would've rather had Taylor Hall, Nugent-Hopkins ands Yakupov(or anyone even remotely similar to those guys) than ALMOST make the playoffs each yr for the past 3 yrs. As it stands we will gett he worst pick this year out of the teams that didn't make the playoffs.

jesus if it was "our team" you would know that the mandate is to compete for a spot while "rebuilding"
