One Incredible Season

Let's say this summer the Leafs sign an unknown 26 year-old who has been practicing behind his igloo in the frozen north.

He proceeds to score 80 goals and 140 assists for 220 pts in the regular season (with a Selke nomination), and keeps that production up into the playoffs leading the Leafs to their first Stanley Cup in over 50 years.

He then retires from hockey to become a Tibetan Monk, just to add to the mystique.

Hall of Famer?
Where would you rank him All-Time?

That sounds like a Leafs fan's expectations, not fantasy.

Hah!.... welcome to club the LeBlondeDemon. I admit the Habs are up on us a tad, after all, your team is unbeatable with Markov in the lineup when hes healthy. Over a season thats 4 points right there.

Future looks bright. By the time your talent reaches its potential Josh Georges contract will have expired. And of course with the possibility of a killer combo in JFJ & Patrick Roy running things...

well, like we Leaf fans better you just go Smelt Fishing when their running in the Spring, take up smoking, drinking heavilly if you havent already.

hall of farmer for sure, would be probably the strangest think effort, and would probably ranked number 1 talent of all time no doubt (doing that without having ever played organised hockey...)

So, insanely high peak with zero longevity?

HHOF for sure, but where to rank him all time is another story. An argument for first overall can certainly be made, but without any sort of multi-season effort I could see people putting Wayne or Orr above still.

I would think HHoF for sure, and I could see him viewed as anywhere from the greatest player ever to not even in the Top 50.

If he his the best player ever, why not put him in the top spot of the list of best player ever (and outside the top 50 of greatest hockey career ever).

But the best hockey players ever have had excellent careers and helped their team to multiple Cups... This guy only did once.

I could never put this guy ahead of Beliveau, for example.... I'm just not sure how far out I would go. Is this X Player better than Yzerman/Sakic all-time?

Ok, he did play four seasons in the WCHL, three in the Can-Am and one in the WHL but still.
