I hated Detroit pre-lockout, because in a sense a lot of their later teams represented almost everything that was wrong with the pre-lockout game to me. A team capable of rolling HoFers like Robitaille and Hull on the 4th line and spend the GDP of a small African country on payroll? But for all I hated about the 02ish era Wings, I've loved them since the lockout. Of ANY team that was any good before the lockout, Detroit is the one that went about it the right way. You didn't see Illich or Holland complaining about the new rules, they just adjusted and have gone from a veteran heavy team to a team that builds from within and doesn't shell out these 15 year contracts to UFAs that pay the players a million per year the last 5 years in order to circumvent the cap.

I agree. I'm gonna have a hard time rooting against them this postseason.

With the Eastern Conference match-ups set:

Rangers over Senators
Capitals over Bruins
Devils over Panthers (The IDC series)
Penguins over Flyers

Penguins/Flyers is the only match-up that I really feel compelled to watch.

Eastern Conference:
Sens over the Rangers (for the lulz)
Caps over the Bruins
Cats over the Devils
doesn't matter, the trolls will win

Western Conference:
Kings over the Nucks (for the lulz)
meh, don't care
meh, don't care
Preds over the Wings (Preds have always been my 2nd team, Detroit will be my Western for the playoffs if they win this)

What I want in the East:

Senators over Rangers
Capitals over Bruins
Devils over Panthers
Flyers over Penguins (All 4 lower seeded teams win all the time, right)

Flyers over Senators
Capitals over Devils

Flyers over Capitals

What I want in the West:

Canucks over Kings (for lulz in second round only. I hate the Canucks though)
Blues over Sharks
Blackhawks over Coyotes
Predators over Red Wings

Blackhawks over Canucks
Blues over Predators

Either of Blues or Blackhawks is fine.

SCF:
Blues/Blackhawks vs Flyers
Any team can win this. I'll be happy regardless.

That it did.

But at the same time, the four top seeds won in the East.

My bandwagon karma goes like this:

West:

LA over VAN
STL over SJ
CHI over PHO
NASH over DET

East:

NY over OTT
WASH over BOS
NJ over FLA (LOL, but who really cares with this one)
PHY over PITT

There were a few tough ones here, as I would probably be pulling for Detroit if they weren't playing Nashville, and I have no beef with Ray Whitney in Phoenix, and would be fine if he played well and they won the series against the Blackhawks.

But let me also give you my short-form rooting interests:

I'm for whoever beats Boston.

Pulling FOR NJ.

As someone with a bit of a historical bent, I'd love to see Marty make one last good run at it before the body really gives up - make a nice run to say, the conference finals, and then retire. Out with a bang, not a whimper.

Out of the west, Nashville and Phoenix.

I pull against fan bases more than i pull against other teams. Ill be rooting hard against the Pens Bruins and Canucks....and to a lesser degree the Rags and Flyers.

I was very, very heavily behind Detroit in the mid/late
1990s. That was a truly great team with a lot of storylines and very easy to root for.

Since about 1999, cheering for them has been like cheering for Microsoft. I don't care if they're successful, they give me the creeps.

Let's hope it happens!!!

This may be the year for happy riots in BC. Much to take place yet, but thats my gut feeling.
