Oilers did not salute the fans on final home game!
Did it rub the wrong way with some of you? Does that mean they hate us? Are we the worse fans in the league that they wouldn't even raise their sticks in appreciation of our support on the very last home game of the season? Did some fans kicked their team too much when they were down and out and they finally have enough? Or am I making a big thing out of nothing?

The players gave the fans nothing to cheer about. I bet they felt they dont need to be appreciated after finishing in the basement again.
Why raise the sticks when u played another emotionless game and finished 29th in the league. They probably wanted to get out before fans started throwing their jerseys on the ice.

The only thing i can think of, is their sticks were in the air most of the game to help them keep their balance (trying to keep it sunny side up) during their shifts.
Their arms must've been too tired moments after the game.
Are you sure? From what I've read, More than half the fanbase hates most of the players on the team and don't get me started on management. Just kinda of feels like they turned their backs on the fans that still support them through thick and thin. Just because theres a few sour apples, they should still acknowledge the fans with the grit to sludge through the mud with them.
It would have been a nice gesture. The season ticket holders deserved to be acknowledged....but they had just lost the game seconds before. It probably just slipped their minds.

But isn't this the first time in a long time...that it...slipped their mind?

This is exactly what I think. I think you are making a big deal out of nothing OP. I wouldn't have even thought about it if you hadn't brought it up.

If there is one thing the Oilers know how to do, it's lose. Do you really think a loss throws this team off balance?
My thoughts on it was that they weren't happy with the season and didnt deserve an applause for the game/season they just had. I think it was less about saluting the ticket holders and more about them not worthy of the praise.

It's good that they got off the ice quickly to make way for an actual competitive playoff home team to take the ice at Rexall (resuming tonight at 7:00).
Theyve been reading hf boards and decided not to salute the fans to show their support for Sam Gagner, whose reputation has been besmirched repeatedly, by so called "fans".
It just confirms the fact that the vets on our team are a joke.
Captain "dizzy" Horcoff and his sidekick Ryan "expired" Smyth are not the leaders this team needs.
It is definitely a big deal, and I hope this organization will reassess who wears the letters as a result. Time to show everyone who's team this is - at least the kids will remember things like the fans and honour being an Oiler.

It's actually NOT a big deal..Only HF Oil posters like Whoya "punchmyselfintheface" wit seem to have their dreams shattered by this overblown "slight".

Got Golf?
Get real, and maybe try another hobby that won't make you abuse yourself.
