EJ is no Ranger fan. I like Deb though.

Has anyone ever seen a team protected by its governing body the way the NHL protects the Penguins? I mean....holy hell. Its beyond bias at this point. They are basically above the rules and can do/say whatever they want. And if anyone questions them, the hammer gets dropped.

$20,000 well worth it.
Man, I wish they'd actually do that. Any fan would pay a buck to Torts for being so epic.

Glad that Torts said what he said. About time that somebody did.
Now that he has made a big stink out of it and has caught the media's attention, no way does Tanksburgh get the benefit of the doubt the next time this kind of **** happens again.

This is just unbelievable. I have no words. This league just proved me that they'll do anything to protect Crosby, Malkin and their ****ing owner.

He's not a Ranger guy.
When I listen to him on that show, it sounds like it bothers him to say something nice about the Rangers.
He used to be a Ranger fan but switched to the Islanders when he was a kid.

Guys, careful. If Mario gets wind of your complaining, he'll cry about the integrity of the NHL and threaten to take his puck and go home.

Typical NHL. Not even surprised. And of course Orpik gets off the hook.

I wonder if Dolan can give Torts a public $20k 'spot bonus', as coaches' salaries don't count against the salary cap, without drawing further umbrage from the league?
The Rangers org seems quite happy to stand up to the NHL when it feels strongly about something (e.g. the website mess a few years ago), and that would make quite the point.

I was thinking he would get Bettman to suspend our board for complaining

I pray that he does take his puck and go home. The day Mario is no longer a part of this sport will be the brightest day in hockey history.

Apparently hurting feelings is far worse than actually physically hurting other players according to the NHL.
The league cares more about its image and reputation than player safety.
Typical ass-backwardness we've come to know under Bettman.

Yet they non stop preach head shots and safety and everytime they have a chance to make a stand they don't.
Typical Bettman.

Yup, that's been readily apparent since Avery's sloppy seconds suspension. Repeat offending head shotters were suspended less games than he was.
Little does the NHL realize is that if they don't give a damn about player safety, and apply a double standard when it comes to one team, it will tarnish their image and reputation far more than Torts' words.

Caps fan here. Rangers fans should take up a collection for Tort's fine. I'd even chip in a few bucks, it was worth it. That's straight ********.

Atleast we can talk about it here since the NHL board only allows talk about Crosby's response. The protection the team receives from the league and the media is second to none in sports. Whatever. We'll beat them in the playoffs. Dolan will pay for it

Maybe it's time to go the Devils route and get a judge to slap an injunction on the fine?
I'm no lawyer, and I do not have the NHL by-laws at my disposal, but in my opinion, Torts did not say anything that warrants a $20,000 fine.
Awfully fishy how once people associated with the league start calling out the Pittsburgh Bettmans bull****, they are made to apologize or get fined.
I hope the Flyers put a hurting on those ********.
