I like Trouba a lot because he has universal skills and a great frame. He's a pretty safe prospect. Dumba is small and will probably sustain a lot of injuries with his style of play. Isles have enough injury prone players as it is.
I haven't seen Forsberg but I heard he's a damn good player with size (6'2).
Galchenyuk is that big and skilled number one C they have searched for since Sundin left. There is no way they pass on him for a future 2nd liner at best.
Really? You expect Galchenyuk to be our next Sundin? Good lord the expectations put on this kid and he's not even drafted yet.

All he said was that Gally is a big and skilled #1 center (potential wise) we've been looking for since Sundin left which is true. He never compared the two.
more than ever teams are drafting alot based on needs. I think there will be some surprising names in the top 10. I also wouldnt be surprised to see Galchynuk fall, nor would i be surprised to see him go no.2

With scouting better than it ever has been, most first rounders are sue fire NHLers so I'm not surprised by this fact.
If I were in the Leafs I'd also be looking at Brendon Gaunce.... If Burke wants to mold a team like he said he wanted to in his hiring presser then Gaunce will get it done in all areas.
Galchenyuk isn't a bad pick either.
I'd also like to see the Habs go after Gaunce... big power forward that they sorely lack.
Having watched Gaunce again last night, his chance of being anything above a third line center is pretty low. He was not non existent last night, but there is nothing in his game suggesting to me he will be a make or break player. His skating really needs to improve just to make the NHL, but after that while he is a good defensive player and strong in the other teams end, he did not look to be dominant on the boards, dominant in front of the net, nor possess any kind of very high end puck awareness. None of those areas are weaknesses, but non made him stand out either, and if they do not stand out at the OHL, they certainly will not be a strength in the NHL.
I personally have Gaunce slated 15 - 20, which is still pretty good. Mind you I am giving him that rating based upon what I read plus my own personal feelings having seen him live 5 times this year. Each of those 5 times if his name had not been known to me beforehand, I would have barely known it after the game.

That is a powerful response. He doesn't belong in the top ten if that's the case. I'll wait for more posts about him before making it official (In a mock lol).
Based on the talent that is available at Minnesota's pick, they pick either Galchenyuk or Murray/Dumba. I think Trouba is going to be really good, but you can't pass on any of the mentioned players when they have the potential they do, AND they fill MN's needs.
Forsberg: I guess i'm sceptical he'll be something crazy. He's been a so-so producer in the SWE-2 league (not SEL yet). At this time of year, last year's top swedes already were producing in the top league.
The draft order will stay almost the same from now until the end of the season so I decided to do this Mock. I will update this as the season ends and then again after the Draft Lottery.
1st Overall: Columbus - LW/RW Nail Yakupov
2nd Overall: Edmonton - LD Ryan Murray
3rd Overall: Montreal - C/RW Mikhail Grigorenko
4th Overall: Minnesota - LW/RW Filip Forsberg
5th Overall: Toronto - C Alex Galchenyuk
6th Overall: NY Islanders - RD Jacob Trouba
7th Overall: Anaheim - RD Matthew Dumba
8th Overall: Tampa Bay - LD Griffin Reinhart
9th Overall: Carolina - C Radek Faksa
10th Overall: Winnipeg - C Brendan Gaunce
All feedback welcome.
not a bad list, i'd just substitute Faksa and Gaunce for Rielly and Ceci, and switch #2 with #3.
If that is exactly how the 1st 9 picks went, I would rather the Jets A) take Rielly, B) take a chance on Teravainen, or C) possibly trade down and get more picks.
Based off of his skillset and NHL projection? Absolutely.
However, his lack of exposure and playing time this year due to injuries may possibly drop his stock come draft time.

Murray will be a better and more important player. Number one defenseman are hard to find these while top forwards come from all over. When's the last time you heard a player being compared to Scott Niedermayer?
