Look at their ROW category too. Also, Backstrom just came back. Their goaltending problem made me a bit iffy on who we should choose (if we had the option), but Florida is definitely the worse team of the two, IMO. They also had a much worse start to the season which brought them down in the standings.

I agree with the Bard. Let's forget the matchups for 60 minutes and play hockey.

My thoughts exactly. Tough one to want to lose to the Caps but we'll see! Florida is really on a downhill slide right now so it might be worth it

Yep. Like you and a few others have said- if we're worried about the Craps, we're not ready to be contenders.

Bring them on and beat them in the 1st round. Shut up all the outsiders.

Hey guys, random question: If I'm in NYC for the playoffs, what are some places to go to for watching the games (obviously won't have tickets for every game) if I don't want to stay in a hotel room to watch the game

You can start with Stout, very close to garden decent food and beer, big place lots of tv's, and should have hockey fans there.

real quick, i just wanna say how great it's been on here this season. i'm sure a lot of people are with me when i say that if you told me we were going to have total control over the Presidents Trophy by game 82, i would have laughed in your face and proceed to tell you how many things have to happen for that to be true. alas...

this is just the beginning, you guys. this is just a preview of next week. but tonight, the Garden is gonna be rockin and Hank's gonna be fired up. lets give him a reason to celebrate! LGR!!

Play to win - no reason for the #1 seed to play for a match up (that they might not have control over anyway) - it's not the kind of mind set you want to have going into a series/playoffs.

No player will ever go out on the ice to lose, especially not the Rangers. If we beat the Caps, we send a strong message going into the play offs

Win tonight against a backup goalie (always a challenge for the rangers) and we get home ice throughout the playoffs. We also then face the caps on a high, we should have beat them when Torts took over and the playoffs from last year needs to be avenged. We are a much better team then them and I am not a fan of losing to get a match up. That stinks of be careful what you wish you.

Let's win tonight in regulation
Hank gets 40
No injuries to either side
That's all I ask for

Not that the Caps are known for being excessively dirty, but Rupp, Bickel, and Prust better be prepared to protect our star players. Washington knows they'll need all the help they can get if they meet us in the first round.

i kinda wanna play the caps/sentors in the first round so if we win we will have a better chance to play NJ since there gonna play the panthers. much rather play NJ in the second round instead of pitts/flyers

Florida has dropped 5 in a row. They have 6 less regulation wins than Washington a -27 goal differential. Washington has a -11. Washington is not good, but Florida is pretty bad.

I just don't want to go to the playoffs losing 3 out of 4 with the sole win being against a Philly team that was a) very banged up and b) we have owned badly this year. I want a blowout win to send a message to the league that we're for real and we're not getting cold at the wrong time. That's even if Vancouver loses its game.

So we're saying the Caps are so much better than the Panthers?

Scenario 1:
We win tonight, play the Caps in Rd.1 and win.
Devils play Panthers and win.
Bruins play Senators and win.
Bruins play winner of Pens/Flyers in Rd.2.
We play Devils in Rd.2.

Scenario 2:
We lose tonight, get what we wish for and beat the Panthers in Rd.1.
The Caps are good enough to beat the Devils in Rd.1.
Bruins still beat the Sens.
Bruins play Caps in Rd.2.
Suddenly we face the winner of Pens/Flyers in Rd.2.

Careful what you wish for, I prefer scenario 1.

I've thought that too. NJ would be the ideal second round opponent. That said we'd still need to win one round.
