The thing with these montages is that they're designed to tell the storylines leading up to the game. As most series are only at game two, they don't have much to work with. I think they'll start being very good towards the end of round 1/ start of round two.

someone mentioned it earlier in the thread but works particularly well lyrically about a player who used to play for your team but now on the other "somebody that I used to know" works especially well for Jagr in the Pit/Phi series.

Also themes of love and heartbreak which fit most series, the pain of losing and such.

As for the music, sure its a bit quirky, but then i never would have expected Katy Perry's ET to work as a "hockey song" and it did quite well. Sometimes it's the ones you least suspect. I just think some of the lyrics could be directly transcribed to hockey visuals.
