2011-2012 Out of Town Scoreboard Part XII: Playoffs are coming!
But first, Seeding Saturday where eleven seeds include all eight out West get decided. All thirty teams in action today, and a lot of games have some meaning including ours since Ottawa could still finish seventh or eighth.
Playing out the string or resting for the playoffs:
Philly at Pittsburgh 4 PM (NBCN) - seeding already determined so I'm sure both teams will take their pound of flesh now before they have to be good little boys
Anaheim at Calgary 4 PM - bye bye Brent?
Buffalo at Boston 4 PM - Boston's final preseason game before the postseason
Isles at Columbus 7 PM (MSG+) - Isles currently fourth in the draft lottery but could boot themselves out of it with a win, depending on other results
Tampa Bay at Winnipeg 7 PM - Stamkos shoots for 60
Toronto at Montreal 7 PM - Canada weeps as only two teams make the postseason, and neither of their biggest markets do
And the games that have some meaning:
Chicago at Detroit 1 PM (NBC) - Detroit will finish at least #5 with a point, but needs a win and Nashville regulation loss to jump to #4. Chicago can only jump the Wings with a regulation win, otherwise they finish #6.
Washington at Rangers 6:30 PM (NBCN) - Rangers can wrap up the President's Trophy with a win, we know about the Caps' division scenario.
Carolina at Florida 7:30 PM - We know about the Panthers' division scenario too, just need a point to wrap it up
Phoenix at Minnesota 8 PM - A win gives Phoenix the Pacific and the #3 seed, they could still win it with a OT loss unless the Kings get a regulation win and have the second tiebreaker (not sure).
St. Louis at Dallas 8 PM - Blues need a win and a Canucks regulation loss to wrap up the #1 seed in the West
Nashville at Colorado 9 PM - Anything short of a win by Detroit locks Nashville into the #4 seed, otherwise they need a point out of this game to keep home-ice for the first round
Edmonton at Vancouver 10 PM - Need to gain one point to wrap up the #1 West seed, and one point more than the Rangers tonight to win the President's Trophy
Los Angeles at San Jose 10:30 PM (NBCN) - A Phoenix regulation loss means the winner takes the division with home ice and the loser either goes to Vancouver or St. Louis.
Ottawa is in trouble as today is not a Season Opener at the Rock.
The Devils have not lost a Season Finale at the Rock beating the Rangers, Hurricanes, Sabres and Bruins...but are only 1-3 in openers having lost to Ottawa, Dallas and Philadelphia, only beating the Islanders in 08.

Message on the jumbotron at the Joe before start of game read: "Hey Nordiques fans. Until you get a team again, you're welcome here!"
aww so sweet, especially since they'll be playing each other 4 times next season
bobrovsky starting in goal for philly today. makes sense to me to protect bryz b/c in the slim chance he got lit up, that would be a disaster for his confidence heading into the series.
Florida starting Clemmensen. Dineen made comments he wasn't happy with Theodore's last few stars. I wonder if he rolls with Clemmensen in the playoffs? Any other team other than the Devils would make Clemmensen look as bad as Theodore.
If we can get 5 goals on Brian Boucher I don't know how we can't get at least 3 or 4 on Clemmensen. Clemmensen isn't that good, and if you've watched him play this season other than his game against the Devils he probably would have given up 3 goals any other game.
Wings are owning OT. Chicago can't get through the neutral zone and look to be desperate for a stoppage, or just the end of OT. Of course right as I say that Chicago almost wins it in the last seconds of OT on a partial breakaway. This game got really interesting late.
Hawks win it in a SO, so I guess that means Nashville is 4th, Detroit 5th, and Chicago 6th. Definitely where Chicago wanted to be, I'd think.
