I think it's good Schwartz gets some playing time before the playoffs. He's probably the first guy in if a top six guy goes down in the playoffs. Lets go Blues and Oilers!

McDonald is a Left Wing though, has he played on the right before? Is he comfortable enough with that?

Likely means he may be the first fill-in if a top 6-er (in particular McDonald or Frenchie) goes down in the playoffs.

If he comes back and is a total non-factor, it may make one of the 3rd liners move up to the top two lines and Beener/Reaves/Porter fill in on the bottom line.

Reilly Smith - Jamie Benn - Michael Ryder
Loui Eriksson - Tom Wandell - Scott Glennie
Eric Nystrom - Vernon Fiddler - Tomas Vincour
Brenden Morrow - Ryan Garbutt - Adam Burish

Alex Goligoski - Philip Larsen
Brenden Dillon - Trevor Daley
Adam Pardy - Jordie Benn

Richard Bachman

Good luck tonight, guys. Although, since Glennie's playing, I don't think you'll have much of a chance.

He's played his off-wing before and looked good doing it. I can't speak to his comfort level but I don't think he'll miss a beat.

Surprised that it is McDonald moving over and not Perron, but we'll see.

I'm hopeful of Schwartz having a great game tonight and forcing his way into consideration for Game 1, as unlikely as I know that is.

McDonald plays very well on his off wing, especially on the cycle. It allows him to pull up and use his great vision. I'm interested to see if Schwartz can get Stewart going...You never know.

Contrary to what Hitchcock said earlier this season, Perron has never really impressed me on the right side. He seems to be much more of a perimeter player on offense with the puck on his stick, and the few times he does get penetration he rarely does anything with it since the puck is on his backhand. His instincts/tendencies are much better suited for off-wing play IMO.

As far as Schwartz goes, who knows. If he provides a spark, anything could happen. The Blues desperately need to pull their game back together, so anything that's providing some momentum that they can build off of is going to get serious consideration for sticking around.

As T.O. advises, I got my popcorn ready.

One tune-up game before my playoff band-wagoning officially begins.

I wish Lou Korac and Jeremy Rutherford would stop saying the Blues have allowed 163 goals. They've allowed 153, so unless the Stars score 12 tonight they'll have the new record.

On the standings page where they count shootout wins as +1 to GF and shootout losses to +1 to GA.

Here it says 153.

No! I am most definitely not sure at all. I did not count the GA's myself.

How on earth would the NHL have such an inconsistency???? It is nigh unthinkable!!!

Am I to believe JR and Lou are as lazy as I am? Or is it possible that the NHL statkeepers can't count?

Oh noes!?! What are we to believe?

Honestly I was wondering the same thing as well when Hitchcock said so earlier. The only time Perron looks at all comfortable on his off-wing is he streaks across on a diagonal and that happens, maybe, once per game. Perron is best when he goes to the perimeter and either draws the defense to him or skates in for a shot. Being on his backhand sort of takes both options away from him.

What I do like is Hitch taking Perron off the Berglund/McDonald line. Perron and McDonald have been working more at odds the past couple of games than they have in sync. Last night I saw both of them follow the other behind the net with the puck. They are simply not on the same page right now, which seems to happen on a fairly regular basis.

Be that as it may, unless Schwartz somehow out-Glennies Glennie, I see no way he is in the playoffs unless something goes seriously awry.

Probably best to believe in a conspiracy at this point. Mine is that the entire NHL, excepting the Blues, sold their souls to the unholy duo that is the Detroit Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils...as such the NHL is trying its absolute best to ensure the Blues do not break the record the Devils previously owned and that the Wings triumph.

If the Blues would win the cup I would expect a pit from the belly of Abaddon to open and the Blues, their players and staff and very likely all fans in attendance to be sacrificed as punishment.

Then again, that could just be my imagination and a bit of lingering hostility toward the aforementioned entities.
Also some aggravation over the NHL refusing to create and track a stat of Carlo-isms per game.

Which part, Schwartz playing in Game 1 or him outperforming Glennie.

Because, you know, the first part is possible...the second part is simply not. Blues fans (and indeed all fans but those of the Stars) are going to cry and gnash their teeth after the destruction he shall wrought to the NHL starting with this game.

On a positive note though, at least other fans will stop blaming the Blues for the destruction of the NHL.
