Because he might NOT be out of job. They can use him as an assistant GM in charge of the Hamilton Bulldogs, or as a super scout...

Meh...

personally I would have went with Subban AND Price.

that way, when we win the lottery, they can triple low five it, trolling the fan bases of the rest of the league in triumphant fashion

I figured it would be him, although I was hoping for Timmins.

Larry Carriere to represent Habs at draft lottery

Just heard it on Sports 30.

Really? We're going to have a guy who might not even be with the team at the draft represent the organization when potentially receiving the 1st overall pick. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I think Carriere will stay as one of the assistant GM no matter what.

It's not like they're drafting that night.

Still. At that moment he's representing the whole organization. It's not a huge deal but it's just another small thing among hundreds that this org. does that has me scratching my head.

They could send Youppi for all I care. What matters is where we draft, not who sits in a chair in the TSN studios whilst they perform the lottery.

At that moment he's representing the Habs because at that moment, he'll still be with the team and the organization has decided it's one of his responsibilities.

I don't get the issue. In fact, the "less classy" thing to do would be to deliberately prevent the guy from going on the basis of "well, we might fire you later, so we'd rather you not go".

I don't understand why he was made interim GM in the first place. Why with a week left in the season did that position need to be filled? Just like Groulx (a goalie coach) was put behind the bench for the last few games. They have this constant need in the organization to fill positions for the sake of filling them, in the fear that something might not look right.

Should have just let Timmins do everything.. Let him act as GM. Can't be worse than Carriere.

Enough with criticizing each and every move that is made! Larry Carriere has a job to do, and he is going to do it. We have no right to look down our amateur noses at a guy like him.

And for Pricesake, and the love of Subban, could we have a little less drama? I mean, who cares who will be there to see the results of chance? No skill needed!

Sending Price and Subban would have been too good.

I'd tell Subban to wear a Trollface shirt that reads: Problem? under his dress shirt and to expose the shirt if we won the lottery.

It would go down as the single greatest moment in NHL history. The rest of the NHL fanbases would be:

Y u no have class?

I'm kinda surprised Molson and Timmins aren't representing the Habs. Timmins should at least be there since he'll be doing the selecting.

Posts like yours have my head scartch. Who cares, he's the acting GM right now, that's is job. Who else to send? Molson. Ya right, the guy as nothing else to do then go to a lottery pick.

Some fans just like to whine about anything

Ther's still an organization to run and things to do

An NHL team cannot not have a GM for a whole month

Think people!

Grigorenko is playing in Halifax that night, maybe Timmins will be there?

It doesn't really matter who they send anyway. Hell , they could do the whole thing on a website and i wouldn't care.

The draft is another story
