4/5/12 - 7PM ET - Caps vs Cats - Moar Sasha Edition(Oh wait #HunterHockey)
I expect the epitome of #HunterHockey this game.
Really there is no excuses this game. Caps got to win, treat it like its the last game of the season and the only way to make it is win in regulation. No scoreboard watching by the team, keep them in the dark about whats going on in the Flyers-Sabres game.
PP1 has to have Ovi-Nicky-Sasha-Brouwer, dman I'm undecided, I don't like Carlsons inaccuracy lately, Greens lack of anything worthy of note for offense besides failures, and Wideman not passing to Ovi, when likely an Ovi faking hes going to one time and just tapping it back to Wideman would be a great play, but the coach is Dale Hunter.

C'mon Caps.........win in regulation, Buff losers in Philly in regulation, Carolina blows out the Panthers and Caps win in NY and dats dat.
I'd really like to see Green and Orlov on PP1. Rightie and a leftie on offsides set up for one timers. But Hunter is the coach and Wideman will continue to get all of the premium PP time.
Special note to moderator HSHS: please be sure DVR is set properly so it runs the full length of the game. Thanks!
I have a feeling that this is the game where we see Backstrom in his old good self again.
Started with 2 tight games must have been tough but also a great way to get back in it. Now an extra day of rest & his body is probably ready to go harder this time!
Curious to see how adaptable Hunter is. The game following where we blew the 3 goal lead and Beagle got more TOI than OVI was followed with Ovi getting 26 mins.
Lets see if he learns from underplaying Semin.
Really..its a big game and we need to play the guys who are getting paid to play in there. I want to see tons of ice time for Ovi/Backstrom/Semin/Green/Laich
Like the guys like Beagle/Aucoin/Wideman but they need to take a backseat.
Pretty much agree on all accounts but this is #HunterHockey. LOL
you don't realize how sad this makes me...Dale Hunter is by far my favorite NHL player EVER. To see him run this team into the ground certainly hurts me more than others I am sure.
This really is mind boggling b/c its the EXACT opposite of what we heard he did in London...ie..play an attacking style while giving his star players tons of ice time.
Trapping and playing 4th liners/career NHLers..playing 3rd pairing offensive dmen in shutdown roles....its like a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.
Only way the Caps win this one is if the middle-aged guns show up. Ovie needs to stop floating and even if he doesn't score, he needs to be involved physically against their d-men.

The problem is that our forecheckers can't aggressively finish their checks unless they CLEARLY have the advantage of obtaining the puck. Otherwise they are instructed to fall back into their trap positions.
We hit more in our own zone and in the neutral zone but we don't seem to be able to punish defenders on the other team b/c we are consistently falling back and retreating.
So combine this with suspensions and its easy to see why Ovechin isn't as physically aggressive on a consistent basis. He has far less opportunities to be for sure.
As much as I want to see the Caps given an oppertunity in the playoffs, I'm not ready to watch us back in and look worse than we did against Tampa last year.

IDK - maybe it's not all Hunter's call. Who knows for sure. I was not opposed to Hunter coming in as coach at all so I too am disappointed. Let's see how it plays out. He can still be your fav of all time though. Hunter is new at this NHL coaching stuff so there is still hope.............

What you say is all true but I can't help but have his image smeared in my mind.
Winning the game tonight will be a big step. Making the playoffs will ease things. Doing damage there will salvage it. Winning the cup will make him a legendary icon.
I think if the boys play flash and co. Tight and physical they will be invisible, have we ever really played them tough? I seem to remember the previous games we let them do what the **** ever they wanted with the puck in our zone.
