I was kind of thinking this too.

With all of the poor trade proposals around here, you never really know.

If only, if only, Schneider would walk from Vancouver. We could trade Emery, now, for picks to Tampa Bay, maybe, and offer sheet him? Or trade him and get Harding. I really just want Crawford as the backup.

When have we had a bona fide starter the entire year? 07-08 with Khabs?

Schneider was who I wanted to pick up during the post-cup fire sale. For our sake and the Canucks demise, that would've been epic.

Aye, but for the sake of being realistic I think the Hawks will trade Emery + for a C upgrade (think of some teams, here), and then go ahead and sign Joshie for 2-3 years.

We've had a solid #1 starter every year. They just didn't start right away.

The Hawks aren't trading a guy they signed yesterday. Emery is our backup next year, and Crawford is our starter unless he absolutely bombs in the playoffs. Even then, our duo is likely cemented for next season.

It's nice to dream about trading Crawford in a package for a great #1 goalie, but let's be realistic, it's not going to happen.

No matter how great our team would look with Cory Schneider, he won't be here next year.

Let's see:
CC has had a poor season and is still a large question mark going into the playoffs. Q has clearly shown that he doesn't think Emery can take over the #1 job. So what happens if CC flops in the playoffs? Hawks will have 2 signed goalies, with a clear need for an upgrade.

The timing of this signing has me completely baffled.

Did he do that when he rode Emery for consecutive games multiple times this season?

When the goalie situation is in doubt, Q rides the hotter hand.

Not exactly true. Once is more like it. CC got 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances after that stint by Emery, even though he didn't play well enough to earn it. Meanwhile Emery did not play badly at all. Crawford has not earned the rite to be in there but he is by default.... something like the situation at center ice with Kruger. Stan has left the Hawk team terribly vunerable at both of those positions. One only has to look at the situation in Washington where 2 of their goalies are hurt, to realize Hawks have been lucky that Crawford has been so resilient to avoid injury. Now Q is gambling that CC can regain his playoff form which is okay under the circumstances, but the options for next year now seem to be limited, no matter how Crawford fares in this year's playoffs. There was no need to sign Emery now, is all I'm saying. This seems to be another case of Hawk's handling their goaltending situation poorly.

There really isn't a lot I had to say that hasn't already been said. Most see this as an awful, short sighted, premature, stupid signing. I agree, and we'll come back to that when we watch someone sign another cheap deal like Vokoun did for the same price. The money given to Emery is horrible, let alone the fact we go with Crawford/Emery again. Stan is telling you all we will win at least 1 Cup with these guys in net and these are the guys to make that happen. Unless we're not trying to win the Cup anymore, but I'm not accepting that.

I truly believe, at this point, that Stan Bowman is both extremely arrogant and stupid. He really thinks he is smart and on the cutting edge with these roster moves, and he really thinks this is the way to win a Cup. We're doomed. Don't be surprised to see B-Mo and Bruno get resigned. At this point, I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a mult year offer extended to SOD. Who the hell knows after this? Nobody...nobody except that ignoramus running the Hawks.

I have nothing against our tandem. the big question will be... CAN they play like this?

Yeah, if Stalberg scores 50 goals next year, we'll be in great shape. All he has to do is score against everyone like he does against the Blue Jackets. It could happen.

Everything I said rings true given the facts. B-Mo was your big 2nd line Center acquistion, goaltending was horrible most of the year and he resigns them. He's making Milbury look good.

Bowman in his 3 years

1 Cup (Tallon deserves more credit, but Bowman finished it)
1 1st round exit against one of the best teams overall
101 points this year

That really doesn't say anything right now. If we go out in the 1st round, everyone will want either he, Q or both gone. I would think so anyway. And I know a great many people here will be pissed if we go down in round 2 as well. Expectations aren't what they'd be of a California team for some people year, even if some are content to be the Ducks or whatever is going through their minds.
