Flyers Extend Grossmann (Philly Inq. report: $14m over four years)

Flyers sign Grossman to multi year deal per various twitter accounts.
  • @NHLFlyers: BREAKING NEWS: The #Flyers and Defenseman Nicklas Grossmann have agreed to a multiple-year contract extension.
  • @RandyJMiller: #Flyers sign Nick Grossmann to multi-year contract
  • @DNFlyers: Just arrived in Pittsburgh to see Nick Grossmann and the Flyers have agreed to a multi-year extension. More coming.

Quote:
The Philadelphia Flyers and defenseman Nicklas Grossmann have agreed to a multiple-year contract extension today, according to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren.

Grossmann was acquired by the Flyers on Feb. 16 from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, previously acquired from Los Angeles, and a third-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

He has appeared in 22 games for the Flyers, recording six assists and a plus-minus rating of plus-5 to go along with 10 penalty minutes.

Quote:
Sources told CSNPhilly.com it is a four-year deal worth $14 million, with a $3.5 million cap hit.

Grossmann would have been an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The 27-year-old Swede came to the club shortly before the February trade deadline from Dallas for a second- and third-round pick.

Grossmann’s last contract in Dallas was a two-year deal worth $3.25 million with a salary cap hit of $1.625 million.

It is believed this deal is at least three years and worth double his previous cap hit.

Grossmann has given the Flyers a physical, defensive presence. He is easily the club’s best crease-clearer.

Good move. I just really hope he's under or around 3.5 per year.

Solid signing, at least until we find out it's 5 years $25.5M, then I'll be annoyed.

Looks like a face of disgust to me. Yes, I know what it's from... still doesn't look like what it's supposed to.

D-men like Grossman, that don't really produce offensively but are monsters in their own end, are generally under-appreciated and that ends up showing in their contracts. I wouldn't be shocked to see him under $3M.

so if you know where it's from, and what it means, why would you disagree?
