It's pretty obvious that Couturier will get the most return. Then it's tight between Schenn and JVR, but I think Schenn is just a a little more valuable ATM. Simmonds scores more goals and represents a kind of player every team need and want. He can play the Hartnell grinder/crash the net/shoot one-timers role on your top 2 lines, and can as well play a shutdown grind role on your checking line. Voracek has more potential to become a star player but his useless shot keeps him as a borderline top6 winger, but only with linemates who can grind and shoot.
Read is 3 years older than the rest, is smaller, and, well, I think it's painfully obvious that he's the lowest valued of the bunch. He's not a young gun talent like the rest, he's rather 26 this year. Even if he's actually maybe the best of the bunch right now, and Schenn and Couturier are the "worst", this is how their trade value looks. JVR and Schenn are close though, since JVR has shown star level potential at the NHL level, but his two years older an that Schenn has produced superstar numbers at every minor level he's played makes him just a bit more valuable trade-wise ATM.
Can't believe some put Read ahead of JvR... It's Couturier (Gap) Schenn (small gap) JVR (Large Gap) Simmonds (small gap) Voracek (small gap) Read.
That is value wise. However, if you were to ask me to rank in terms of who will be the best:
Schenn
Couturier
Voracek
Simmonds
Read
JVR
Van Riemsdyk is ridiculously over hyped. He needs to get back ASAP because he was money in the playoffs last year, maybe a deep playoff run could be his coming out party like what many believe Giroux's playoff performance against pitt was a few years ago

I agree with this, however doesn't JVR remind you of Coburn? When he uses his size and speed you are like omg he has it. But when he doesnt all you can do is shake your head
Read is as high as he is because of the value he brings with his low cap hit for his production.
As for who will be best:
Couturier
JvR
Schenn
Simmonds
Voracek
Read
Think we can all see Couturier is going to be a stud. I don't think we'll see playoff beast JvR on a consistent basis, but I could see him averaging about 55-65 points a year. I'm kinda curious about Schenn. I think he'll be a player, but I wonder if the organization sees him as a winger or a center. Think Simmonds will be a great 2nd liner with 1st PP time. With Voracek, he's great at controlling the puck and playmaking, but his shot leaves a lot to be desired. I see him as a great 3rd liner/good 2nd liner. I think Read is what he is, which is an extremely versatile 3rd liner who wouldn't look out of place filling in on the 1st or 2nd line short term.
Also, what do people think about a future JvR/Hartnell-Giroux-Schenn line?

Reason: Added Hartnell
There is no way simmer gets more back than voracek in a trade..
Is everyone just assuming since we traded Carter for voracek hes not worth as much as simmer?
Read shouldnt be in the conversation hes not moving a solid 2 way player who can play any position, a staple on the PK and good for 20 goals 30 assists or so signed to a cap hit under a million for the next 3 years on a cap strapped team is not being moved.
Voracek has more Value then Simmonds 10 out of 10 times. Schenn/JvR/Voracek were all top 5 picks and are valued as such if not moreso. Then you have Couturier who everyone values more then the other 3 yet was a #8 pick. So if you put a gun to my head and asked me to rank them in terms of value it would be;
Couturier
Schenn
JvR
Voracek
Read
Simmonds
And for the record the top 4 all hold very similair value and theres not much difference between them I don't expect any to be moved. Those 6 along with Giroux, Talbot, and Wellwood are the future of the team.
Simmonds still holds a good amount of value as he does the little things right and put in the right situation can thrive offensively as well based off of his linemates. He is the only one like that though which is why he is last. The other 5 make oppurtunities for themselves
