Smart move tossing Rinaldo. He didn't deserve it, but prevented a lot of shenanigans in a game that meant nothing.

- just one win away from 1# spot and a (possible) President's trophy

+Nice to get that last win in before facing the Flyers formally in the playoffs!

+Geno, what a season. I was really hoping he would get to fifty goals. Some folks were ready to write Malkin off last year as no longer a top tier elite player, but it has literally always been there with Malkin; he's amazing to watch. I was pretty sure we would see another monster season from him, but I was a little worried the knee issue might creep up a bit and slow him downt. Hooray that that didn't happen!

+ What an unexpectedly wonderful season for one that did not feature very much Crosby. Neal with 40 goals? Shero literally fulfilled Pens fans wildest dreams about an elite winger, and he signed the guy for Hemsky money. The Penguins organization, with Shero leading it, has done just an amazing job.

... Speaking of unexpected, I was tempted to make a thread about Pascal Dupuis. Twenty-five goals? Wow. Not a bad little throw in for that Hossa trade, hey? Who would of thought he would be five past being one of our twenty goal scorers? And no one can say it's all on Crosby this time.

I'm about as excited for the playoffs as I ever have been. It's going to be a fierce start drawing Philly... grind those *****es down. Make em' fear the Energy' center.

+ Malkin for reaching 50
+ Vitale. Took care of business, got some chances, created some energy
+ Letang. Engblom mentioned it, but his reads... just pro
+ Kunitz

- The team trying to feed #50 to Malkin
- Huge minus to the PP. It's brutal to watch in terms of execution.

**** respect . The whiner trashed the Penguins organization and claimed that the league is fixing games. No reason to respect that raving mad lunatic.

At the NHL.com front page there is a video of Mario's 5-goal game against the Blues in '96 the night after his son was born. One of my earliest hockey memories.

Orpik is a classy guy, he could've told Torts to go **** himself, but he didn't. I'm sure he realized he made some bad judgement there, Orpik isn't a dirty player.

Probably why Orpik won the "Player's player" award back to back. The guy's a leader, and if Sidney Crosby wasn't a Penguin, he'd be wearing that "C" on his jersey.

There's a possibility of all 4 of the Pens' top rivals losing in the 1st round:

PIT over PHI
OTT over NYR
BOS over WSH
FLA over NJD

That would give us FLA in the 2nd round!

as much fun as the scenario where we go through Philly and NYR is, it would be so much better to see the Rangers go out in the first

I can see the Pens and Bruins taking their series, but i'd be shocked if the Sens beat the Rags and the Panthers took out the Devs. I'd love it, but i don't see it happening.

I can see all teams winning and losing. This has to be the most parity in a first round ever.

It's certainly going to be a hard road to the Cup this season.

For the PP, in the end it's going to have to take Sid openly seeking the left side, ALL the time, be it on the point or the wall.

He has to get away from Geno's side, but he's stubborn and keep finding his way over there either by design, or mostly likely, by habit.

Christ, the only negative thing about having both of them is that they're both lefties. One of the two being a righty would be absolutely lethal.
