Eberle minus Hall

Has Jordan's play gotten significantly worse since Hall dropped out? If so it could be for a number of different reasons, like Renney is trying to get other guys opportunities, it doesn't matter anymore, etc.

Or it could be because Hall's presence gives some magic to Eberle?

This isn't a knock on ebs, it's wondering that maybe Hall is doing more for our team than what the stats say.

Eberle is still close to a PPG since Hall went down (I think he's only one game off) but yeah, he's less effective because Hall attracts so much attention with his devil may care style. The fact that we've got next to no secondary scoring doesn't help Eberle either. Opposition defenders can key on the Oilers' top line and they don't even have to worry about Smyth, Horcoff, Belanger, Eager or any of the other lines scoring.

Yeah I think that's what I was trying to get at. Teams put a lot of weight on shutting down Hall, which leaves Eberle a bit more open(?).

Hall makes this team much better, I don't think anyone can debate that. His speed and fearlessness draws defenders to him, it's the perfect complement to guys like Ebs and RNH. It's no knock on Eberle to say that he was better when Hall was in the lineup.

one of the reasons, but it is obvious the offense is far less potent without Hall. He will probably get the fewest points of the big 3, but he may the most important of the three at generating offense and sustaining pressure.

Since Smyth stopped scoring the Oilers' have been a 3 forward team basically. Lose 1 of them and the other 2 will have less help and be less effective. This can hardly be a surprise.
