Yea. This gives me a lot of hope going into the playoffs... he has been really good since his return now that he is healthy.
He really has... I'm a big fan of his game, provided he can keep his emotions in check. Bourdon's got a ****ing rocket of a shot, too. Would love to see him unleash it more.

As happy as we are that he's healthy now, we should not be condoning players playing through concussions.
I will say that there is some awesome stuff in this article other than just the concussion stuff. MAB wants to be a team player, and he wants to be a part of this team.
I met his family way back when during his first training camp. Great people, and MAB is a good guy. I'm really happy he's turned his career around so drastically.

It's gonna happen, especially in cases like this. I completely understand why a guy like MAB would do this. Guys play through other injuries that are less serious and no one bats an eye really. This would be tragic if he had been further injured, but his livelihood depended on playing through it. I don't know what his contract is like, but I assume he gets paid a fraction of what he was making on the NHL level in the AHL. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you take time off to heal, he may never get to live out his NHL dreams and get that NHL paycheck again because someone might take his spot. If he gets injured further, he risks the same thing. I completely understand the thinking of if you can play through it, you play through it. It is dangerous and potentially short sighted, but if you are a 23 year old kid (or however old he is) living out your dream of playing in the NHL and cashing huge paychecks every week, are you going to risk losing your spot to take time off and heal? Some people might, others won't. Both are understandable choices.

Yes but when he is injured someone could have taken his spot and sent him back when he was healthy. With fringle NHLers (which Bourdon is at the moment), this happens all the time. You get injured, another fringe NHLer comes up and plays well. There goes your minutes and your locker. I'm not saying it WOULD have happened, but that is the chance you take in a situation like this. While I wouldn't necessarily say he made the right choice, it is an understandable one.
I agree that it's terrible that he played through it. But it's easy to understand where he's coming from when Bartulis hasn't been a regular ever since the Upshall hit.
This is the worst part of a defenseman's career to be getting injured. It's unfortunate, it's terrible, but I can't say I don't understand.

The main difference is leighton hid it to get a contract and basically defrauded the team. MAB kept it from the trainers to keep contributing to the team until guys came back and he was able to be sent down, then took his AHL salary not his NHL one. Not the smartest thing(since pronger is a big example), but MAB was trying to be a "team" player. I'm sure the players union is going to want to give him a stern talking to. But I also wouldn't be surprised if the flyers paid him his NHL money off the books. The flyers, by and large, take care of their own.
And with his good showing, he's certainly going to get a contract
Bourdons intentions were good. Nice to see him want to earn his spot and be a team player. But playing through a concussion was a big mistake. Bad play on his part. It is nice to see that he is healthy again. Before he got the concussion he looked good out there. Hope to see more of Bourdon in the future.
