I have the perfect solution for #94, sign with the Flames because you will fit in perfectly with their Dinosaur rebuild. I didn't want him back here in the first place. Hearing that he turned down that contract after all of the fuss he caused in the summer, see ya later.
But then the Oilers would have pretty much given Colin Fraser away for nothing!
It really is looking to me like Sutter could well be the new guy.
This whole Renney business makes sense now. Wait it out for however long and see if any other coaches come on the market. Maybe not the best thing but see what happens i guess.
If Vancouver loses opening round you would have to think AV could be on the hotseat. He would be a guy I would for sure look at. The only issue i would have is how much of the theatrics are condoned by him or if thats mostly on the players.

Anyone else think AV isn't that great of a coach? He's been unable to spark this team without Daniel Sedin - the twins have willed this team to their success, imo.

It's looking real contrived now isn't it? Now that Murray has been added to the roster, it's as if KLowe is using Team Canada for a guinea pig to *innocently* test out the dynamics of a new coach and young defender.

He may not be able to spark his team right now, but being back to back President trophy winners is tough for any team especially one that went that deep into the playoffs. IMO that has more to do with the Kings sucking the life out of the Canucks. Look at how they made the Oil look in the final 2 games they played them. Granted the Oil sucked at that time, but the Kings style of play just sucked any offense out of them. The same thing is happening with Vancouver. I really like the way he rolls his lines and sets his team up for success. IIRC it was a blog by LoweTide talking about zone starts and how he deploys the Twins in mainly offensive roles to help their success. Yes I'm aware they have much better depth and can afford to do these kinds of things, but hopefully next year the depth will start filling out and give the Oiler players more defined roles. This would make for an ideal situation for him to come into.

Based on 2 games? Only a fool6110 would jump to a conclusion that quickly.
Their success is directly related to the PP. that being said, refs have been suckered by the nucks long enuf, that they are calling the games differant. This leaves AV's weapon(diving etc...) useless.

I wouldn't look at AV.
He's a decent coach, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he's a great coach. Having back-to-back Hart winners, and Kesler's offensive outburst really kept him with a job.
I also don't think he's the guy for us. You have to think that he sees some of the stuff going on the ice, for him to look the other way, I'm not sure if its something I want our head coach to let go.
I also don't think his players respect him like say he Flyers do Laviolette, or Predators do Trotz etc etc. That team has never been mentally strong, but he doesn't help it that much either. The team doesn't seem to want to skate through a wall for him. I think that's something we need in our future head coach.

I see what you did there
As I think has been said before, this team has been built for success. Two years in the running, not being able to bring it come playoff time whilst playing in arguably the easiest conference in the league. I dunno! I can hate on everything Canuck related, right?
He's a good coach. Just not an excellent one. Then again, I guess there's nothing available that's truly excellent.
EDIT: A Stanley Cup Finalist last year? You've got to be kidding!! Er... THIS YEAR. If they get...
Sigh, I think I might have to rescind my statement until further notice.
