Well then, that's me for the next two weeks. Just got my tickets for games 1 and 2, and I'll be wearing my Ovechkin jersey to work on Monday. Gotta find me an Obama mask...
Ok Bruins fan here offering a serious opinion on this series. I have to admit the Caps speed scares me to death, especially with Backstrom back in the lineup. In my opinion Bs fans are going to be worried about the Caps skill and speed, and Caps fans are going to be worried about the Bruins size and physicality. I really think that this is very similar to the Bruins Canadiens series from last year, except Ovi, Backstrom, Semin, Green are A LOT better than Plekanic, Cammi, Gionta, Subban. Its all going to come down to Chara/Seidenberg shutting down the Ovi line and Bergeron/Marchand shutting down Semin and Ovi up front. Not being an ass but the Caps D does not impress me at all, Alzner and Carlson are going to be very good over time but I dont think they can handle the likes of Krejci, Lucic, Seguin, Bergeron, and Holtby is very inexperienced compared to Thomas. I could see this series going 6 or 7 games, but in the end I think the Bruins edge on D and tending takes it in 6.
I'm reposting this from the other thread, because it makes more sense for it to be here.
I've been going back through the schedule.
If you look at the Bruins recently, frankly, they've sucked.
This calendar year, starting January 1, 2012, counting shootouts as ties (which is the best way to do it when you're thinking about how likely they are to do well in the playoffs since there aren't any shootouts in the playoffs), I am pretty sure the Bruins are 18-20-9.
Since February started, they are 12-15-7.
Since March started, they are 9-8-4.
Not saying the Capitals have been world-beaters recently either. And their road record is peculiarly atrocious for a playoff team, and the Bruins have home ice, so I'd still give the Bruins an edge in the series. But not that much of an edge.

Good news for you, the Caps aren't that fast of a team anymore. The Chimera - Backstrom/Perreault - Semin line can burn, but other than those guys there's not much speed in the forward corp (pretty much just Johansson and Ovechkin, unless Eakin somehow gets a sweater). Green, Orlov, and Carlson can fly on the back end, but Green has struggled since coming back from injury and hasn't shown the explosion he's known for.
